Is Steam Support filled with incopetent noobs?
Lately I have noticed that competence of Steam Support members is lacking.

They are unable to resolve issues and keep replying with generic answers.

They are unable to fairly monitor and moderate Steam Discussions and are prone to hand out bans under false pretence and change Band Reason after some time to suit them.

What happened Steam/Valve? Cant afford skilled individuals any more? Need to outsource your Support to some scammers hub in Kolkata? :D

Yes, but that's most tech support.
Because you kept going in circles flaming people instead of answering people when they adressed your claim?

I read your post history and decided on colourful, as in flaming, baiting.

Some examples:

Secondly only Steam Support "actually knows" why you were banned as do you but your post history speaks for volumes to take an educated guess.

Colourful? Flaming and baiting?

First one is a response to someone who was rightfully banned and is begging on forum which is just a spam. Was I supposed to be sorry for him? For a cheating lowlife?

Not sure, what is your problem with second. I just wrote the truth. That thread exposed a lot of targeted people. And his statistics were waste of time. Are you sure you can read and comprehend?

And third one? I answered to him before, he didnt answer my question and kept spamming. Then I blocked him and ignored his spam. What else was I supposed to reply to his new friend?

Some of you have skewed sense of reality and have surreal expectations of people reactions. Just because someone doesnt respon the way you want it doesnt make him flaming or baiting.

Why did you keep responding to me in that topic if you blocked me?

As far as I am concerned I answered people in a first instance. I refused to fuel their constant spam repeating the same already answered questions.
It is not my problem people do not read responses and just keep spamming.
Also, if I block someone I am not going to interact with that person. Not my problem Steam doesnt know how to properly handle Discussions and issue blocks on members. If you block someone you should not be contacted by that person again. Not to allow that same person to keep spamming you and response to you all the time.

If you knew he blocked you, why did you respond to him, if you did? That's another issue they have to work on. If you get blocked, you shouldn't be able to respond to their posts. The conversation between these parties, would be seized.

If the person is banned, that too should prohibit responses. Idk, having social media as a part of dealing with in game problems and issues is a bad idea. If folks want to get into all that, talk about it on Reddit or other avenues

I did block you? Unless you use multiple accounts and I blocked on of them I am not aware of blocking you. What gave you such impression?

I think the problem lies in that you never gave a direct answer and instead accused people who disagreed with you of cheating.

I gotta be honest i haven't seen a direct answer to the claim in the topic head

You have to willingly circumvent the block by clicking "Show" on comments they make. If you are still seeing or responding to their comments, it isn't an issue with Steam.

The forums are not social media. You, as a user, should never have any say or power in someone's ability to post on the forums. Blocking is to prevent direct contact. The forums are not direct contact.

I learned just now that he blocked me. Every topic would be a toxic echochamber of confirmation bias if blocking someone meant that the blocked user couldn't respond to your topic.

It's a free forum, i can't see why it should be any diffrent than what it is now

Some people struggle to grasp the function of a public bulletin board.

This is not relevant to this thread. You will have to wait until end of my unfair ban.

Well at that point, if that were to happen, THEN you report the poster for abusing the Block feature. But the block feature as it stands, does not stop the assault, being others use it to brigade them furthering the problem, and the whole forum becomes a brigade. And so, they have to work on that.

Well I am fully aware of it. But that will not stop the blocked member from spamming replies to me. Blocked member will also have no idea he is actually blocked, so will keep spamming...

I don't want to speak for someone else but I think the implication is that seeming hostile or argumentative is less likely to get you as far as being polite and calm. Even if you're right.

When at least trying to be friendly with authorities, they're more likely to look for ways to help you than ways to make you go away. In a perfect world it shouldn't matter, but it does.

That strongly depends on how the "authorities" use their power.
If they let some members to abuse their power, they cant expect a friendly behaviour.
Well, you're not wrong. Like I said, it shouldn't matter in a perfect world. But that's how people tend to be, even when they're supposed to be "professional." If you're at the RMV trying to get your license renewed (assuming US, anyway) are you shouting at the lady behind the desk, or are you staying calm and friendly? (Or at least, neutral?) Treat people how you want to be treated, even if you're right and they're full of it, and things are a lot more likely to go your way. Yes, you should not HAVE to. And you don't have to. But that doesn't change the fact that it helps, on Steam, at the RMV, at the cashier line, at the help desk, anywhere.
