Referencing where to get the ROMs is "Promoting Piracy." While just talking about emulation is not.
Don't post about where you were getting ROMs. Even YouTube creators can have their channels nuked for doing that.
I get that part, but the site had that feature removed from it back in 2018 thanks in part to Nintendo. Someone else mentioned the site by name and said it was completely down. I corrected that stating that it still works = Meaning the website is still there and NOT down...yet i get an immediate permaban for it.
If the website was altered to no longer support such a feature, then why is it considered "blacklisted" to even discuss?
The part where you mention it is still working "promotes piracy" as an inference.
It is still a known site that was used to host free game downloads.
But even as an inference, everything is right there proving proof that the free hosted games were removed & no longer a feature of said website as of 2018. The site has been altered for over 5 years now, so if someone were to say purchase this domain & change it into a completely different webpage (selling furniture for example); based on it's previous reputation...I could be potentially banned for discussing a furniture outlet store?<- Yes, i know this is silly, but still trying to make a point.
News outlets reported all of this with articles, a statement message was released on the website, yet non of that is proof enough for support to understand and with the nature of a permaban being applied without even so much as a warning or temp ban prior to that?
Yes. Because it still holds that reputation.
Promoting Piracy has never been taken lightly on Steam and always ended up with a ban, even on the first offense.
Also, didn't that site just hide the downloads?
I've also never seen Steam permaban over it without multiple prior offenses, was this on a game forum hub or steam forum hub?
Correct.
Yeah, not banned here but on the Dolphin Emulator literally within 12hrs of when they put their product on Steam. The sticky didn't even get put in place until roughly 36hrs after the permaban was issued. Have no clue about Mega Man being involved in my ban, but at this point nothing surprises me
This was on the Dolphin Emulator forum, and no prior offences from them within the 12hrs they had gone live...just an outright permaban.
Here's an example taken from RetroArch where they have a clear pinned rules & guidelines put in place with rules forbidding the discussion of piracy on their forum and even naming such websites. This is from over 4 years ago, so not just a few days;

I had already mentioned at the first part of my quote;
Ban notification from a Dolphin Emulator developer — Mar 29 @ 12:27am
Forum Rules: Dolphin Emulator [developer] Mar 30 @ 3:18am
It was put in place after they issued the permaban. Closer to 24hrs, not 36...apologies
Because you people wouldn't stop talking about it and they had to put up their rules to get you all to stop talking about it.
