Steam emoticons are kinda... a form of semi-forced money milking?

If youre texting someone, its really hard to show youre intent or emotion just via plain text (i know thease exist: :), :-), :(, >:( but theire kinda archaic... + not all people know wath they mean)

And thats why emojis exist, but since emojis dont exist on steam, we get emoticons.
But there is this thing that you have to "own" a game and then spend two hours playing it?

thats exactly the same as "Hey, you want to have the ability to use an angry tone in youre speach? here, pay me 20 bucks and then go punch that guys face for 2 hours!"

Yes i need those! haveing the ability to add more context to a vocalisation (or text) is vitall for a social species like humans!

I also am aware that thease point shop thingamagics are created to make money. But then if you just dont buy and play the game with a really niche emoticon youre basically sligthly handicapped in discutions! and those handicaps stack up! so i hope you get the point?

You can use all emojis from the steam chat app on phones(the phone emojis), and I imagine that you can do something similar on desktop if there is something like an emojis list or such.

That is not a need — amazing, I know, but you already have a great many …. vocalisations …. available to express the concepts you require.

Reminds me of that Romeo & Juliet book adaption where they changed the words to emoticons because people don't read anymore and are incapable of expressing themselves through text.

i am on pc... as far as i am aware pc doest have emojis like you do here...

I even told you how to use them. I wrote it on pc.

cause windows emotes dont show a preview popup like steam emotes do :P

plus you can spell out words with steam emotes as well

Which in reality should be owned by everyone by now. Win7 is good, I really liked it aswell, but by now even Win11 is good. I'm really happy with it. I was still using Win10 until a few months ago myself.
