Even so, Epic seems to be doing very well, even with these old"ish" stats, and keep in mind, Epic, unlike STEAM, has had competition from the beginning.

Epic is very smart giving away games, because very soon, if not already, there will be an entire new generation (and possibly older ones) of gamers with more games in their Epic library than their STEAM library, and they will also see Epic as the company that gave them a bunch of free stuff....Boggles the mind that some of you are too blind to see what is actually going on, but I guess that's how STEAM fanbois are wired.
It's not smart. It's also why they let go of about 1,600 employees.
There are 125 million active Dteam accounts. Epic does not have that many, not even close. No other platform does.
Yep, you can have a huge Epic library. Here's the thing though, Epic doesn't have any money to show for that either. It was all given to devs.
"I didn't buy it on Steam" loop hole activated.
Platform investment is indeed a thing, but you gotta build the right investment. And the main investment for many Epic users is reaping free game after free game.
Case in point:
Mind the fact that the Epic games giveaway was originally meant last only one year (a free game a month) and we're nearing the SIXTH year of free giveaways. (Free for users, Epic is burning money like there's no tomorrow to give away those games)
Also devs aren't correctly adressing the perception such large giveaways have for their own products. Remember what happened with deep Steam sales? It ingrained into people's head that games base price was the 75% off price. Now Epic is breeding the perception that games 'will be given away for free'... That's bound to have sales impact middle to long term.
Epic is just behaving like the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ uncle bringing gifts to the kids.
Seems their business model is really paying off these days, and the money is finally coming in?
Maybe if they make so much negative money it'll roll over into the positives.
