Does anyone know why the discovery queue often includes games with low review scores?
Do other people enjoy games with 46% positive reviews? All I know is that I don't.

Often? I rarely see them in there. But I only run the DQ during sales events.

The DQ tells you on the right why it's showing the game. Check it out.

Yes, people enjoy such games. Different people, different strokes and all that. Ulitmately it merely depends on what you're interested in and what you can get out of game X.

Okay I just ran today's queue, and I got one game that's on there "because it is popular", when steamdb.info estimates it has less than 11,000 total owners. Do you know how Steam decides whether a game is popular? Or are steamdb.info estimations wildly inaccurate?

Another game was on there "because it is on sale". Does that mean any game can be added to someone's queue just by going on sale?

*Any* game is going to show anyway. It's designed to only show a game once. So technically you can keep running it and see all games on the store and "finish" the DQ until new games release.

No, I have no idea how Steam determines popularity.
One reason would be that the DC only shows you a game once. To oversimplify, once youre past the 1,000 most popular games, it starts giving you whats left.

If you have the patience and persistence you can literally get to a point where the DC wont have anything left to show you.
There are over 12,000 English language games with a "very positive" or better review score. If I look at every game in my queue every day, it would take me more than 3 years to get past all of them.
I see most reviews unless overwhelmingly negative then at your own risk but most reviews are not accurate but what players think whether it is true or what they think they had experienced in which i once learned the hard way! To sum it up do you enjoy playing games? Do you only play games with what (appears) to be good reviews? Just play it if you enjoy it or if you think you may or may not give it a shot staying under the two hour mark so if it is not your cup of personal tea put in for a refund. Happy gaming! :)

I don't know about you, but I don't have time to try every game for 2 hours. If there are 2 games and I have time for one of them, or if there are 47,000 games and I have time for 200 of them, how should I know which 200 games I'll likely enjoy the most?
The queue tells you exactly why it's showing you every title. Next time pay attention to the right side column.

Also keep in mind other factors, like number of viewed or blocked games also play a role

How many titles have gone through your discovery queue? How many blocked?
At a certain point the system simply starts throwing stuff at the wall.

I don't know the exact number, but it's probably less than 400 and definitely much less than the number of English language games rated "very positive".

That differs entirely from person to person. I usually check some negative reviews to see if there are common things mentioned, but other than that I don't look at the reviews much. For me the average rating doesn't really hold value. I've enjoyed plenty of games rated on the low end of "mixed" (so in the 40%-60% range). If the flaws of the game aren't actually issues for me, it's fine by me.

I guess this is kind of off-topic, but how do you decide which games you want to play?

Well, if you think about it. . . 46% of them did. :|

Mostly by seeing advertisements, or recommendations, or articles about them. Or news about them because I have other games from the same devs. When there's a themed event going on, I'll browse through some of the categories if the theme is one I might be interested in.

I'd never get a game just to "try it" for 2 hours and then refund. I've never actually done a Steam refund.

I don't use the DC, and Steam reviews are pretty pointless (given how many joke, meme, trolling, or review-bombing ones there are).

People actually pay attention to review scores? Wow. You're missing out on some really good games.
