Someone stole my Steam wallet balance
I do not know how, but someone stole my Steam wallet balance. My son had purchased Steam gift cards for my birthday ($100) and they were in my wallet as I was deciding on what games to purchase. I logged in the other day and there was $1.31 remaining. I received an email that a purchase was made from "Sanikojevnikov" for $98.69, but I do not know who this is and it stated I purchased a "Chronoptic Crown". I have no idea what this is and I was planning to buy a few new games with the money. I have changed my password, but has anyone else experienced something like this, or had money stolen by this person/entity???

just do a refund
Chronoptic Crown is a rare item from the game Dota 2 if I remember correctly.

Anyway, contact Steam support immediately and report that you have charges on your account that you did not make. Let them have a look at it.
Did you click on any links or something? It's possible you were phished by signing in via a fake login window, or by inadvertently downloading malware.

Make sure your computer is safe so this doesn't happen again right after.

Scan your rig for malware, deauthorize all devices, change your password on a clean and secure device, and generate new backup codes.

Nothing wrong with that. I'm always keeping some funds in my wallet and never had a single issue with it.

Your account wallet is both useful and convenient if you have a large wishlist and are keeping an eye on discounts, or if you keep checking the trading cards market for missing collectibles. Problem is only if you're not careful how you handle your account's security.

Keeping funds in your wallet isn't an issue at all. The issue is when gullible and/or greedy people hand out their Steam account information to scam websites or scammers, thusly giving them the keys to the vault and the code to turn off the alarm.
Nobody stole it. Someone was gullible and gave the key to your account to a scammer either willingly or by clicking on a scam link.
Thanks for the info all...actually, my son had given me Steam gift cards which I entered into my wallet. I was deciding on what games to buy, so this obviously puts a temporary hold on that.

Changing passwords is not enough - do the following steps in order and without fail to secure your PC and Steam account:-

1. Scan for malware https://www.malwarebytes.com/
2. Deauthorize all other devices https://store.steampowered.com/twofactor/manage
3. Change passwords from a clean computer
4. Generate new backup codes for your Mobile App https://store.steampowered.com/twofactor/manage
5. Revoke the API key https://steamcommunity.com/dev/apikey

Also make sure you report the recipient of the fraudulently purchased item.
Steam finally replied to let me know that all transactions are final and they cannot consider a refund. I noted that I do not even have this Dota game (which they know) nor do I have a history of making ANY purchases other than actual game purchases. It seems that there is no interest in even looking into what happened, which is a shame.

How do I report the recipient? I have not had to do this before.

Report them on their profile.
I reported but not sure it will do anything. Steam has "repeatedly" informed me that a refund is not even an option.

You won't get the money back, but they can shut the other account down. And if the funds are still in the hijackers account, they won't be able to access it.
