Steam refunds
Steam is absolutely amazing with their refund policy and that is honestly the only reason I absolutely refuse to use any other platform other than steam. I refund like 40% the games I buy and never have gotten denied a refund. Not even trying to abuse them, I just enjoy playing alot of new releases and hardly do much research outside of the store page.

Love you guys :coffinheart:

uhh okay but maybe stop refunding half your games as you could get banned from refunds for abuse

Nah, I've got 800 games and have been on the site for 4 years now. When Steam does ban you from refunds, it is only a temporary ban. Kind of the only reason I posted this was because I did that bit of research and got real excited by that finding.

Originally I was going to post to support asking what they thought about refunds, but decided not to since it wasn't easily accessible so I found first hand experiences of people who have been banned from refunds; with it only being temporary

Honestly wish I've refunded more games as I only end up sticking to 5 games at a time, but I don't refund if the game is enjoyable because that is rude to the devs

While it is rare, some games companies do actually have a more robust refund policy over Steam. Vintage Story example. The devs for that game claim a part of the reason they haven't put the game on Steam yet is the refund policy of Steam's 2 weeks/2 hours playtime is much shorter than their refund policy of 1 month and unlimited game time.

Because both 1 month and unlimited game time let's people abuse the crap out of refunds.

And most devs/pubs don't want to be screwed over and not receive payments for games.

Other companies may have more robust refund policies, but I feel like there has to be some system in place to avoid abusing their policy. The other person mentioning Vintage Story for example, I bet when you try to refund from them it is reviewed by an actual person to check if it is valid or not. I don't know man, but I've refunded ~300 games on Steam and I'm pretty happy about that. The only other platform I've used is Ubisoft and Epic Games. And Ubisoft wants to delete your account if you don't log in every few months; and Epic is completely lacking compared to Steam (storefront wise)

The irony of this post must be intentional, I can't believe you haven't noticed it.

Sorry, no idea what you are talking about and if you can't explain yourself then I don't really intend on jumping through hoops with you

Even EA.

They own all their games on their service. There's a reason why.

Valve has thousands of Steam Partners (devs and pubs) they need to be fair with. So, a compromise of 2 weeks and 2 hours was best for all involved.

Well, you're saying there has to be some system in place to avoid abuse while abusing Steam's refund system. It doesn't get more ironic than that.

That is, if what you're saying is true.

:winterbunny2023:
2 hours is really all you need to load into a game and figure out if it is for you or not. If an fps doesn't do anything unique in the first hours then refund. If an rpg doesn't live up to its main selling point, then refund. There are Rpg's that you have to spend hours to get into; but usually the reviews will hint on if the game does anything worthwhile 20 hours in
