Riot Games kind of sucks, huh?

Linux does not currently afford us sufficient ability to attest boot state or kernel modules

"if you don't let us install a root kit on your system, we will break your games!"

anti cheat without ring zero is about as effective as no anti cheat

If you need access to my device drivers in order to determine that I'm not cheating, you're doing a pretty poor job of it.

Especially because if I was cheating, I wouldn't be running your software at all.
Game devs need to stop treating esports games as if every player is a top-level competitor. Put the rootkits on the players in tournaments and just use regular non-invasive anti cheat systems for the casual players. We don't make people piss in a cup before they are allowed to play football with their friends. Why make every player use invasive anti-cheat when 99% of them are outside of major competitive scenes? (The answer, of course, is to cut back on costly human moderation)

they also force TPM 2.0, or the game wont boot.

some even disable stuff on peoples pc's, things they deem not needed, or somehow has the ability to enable cheating.

all these anticheats do, is harm legit players, more than they hurt people cheating... the people cheating get banned and are back within minutes playing again, repeat rinse, over and over.

not to mention, while they are effectively locking out all linux users, they are also locking out the steam deck users.

Why do you think Activision won't do the same with Ricochet on CoD?

Same reasoning.

Not to mention, if they are going to have serious competitions, they should be using official and standardized machines that are built and managed by the organizing entity.

Popular multiplayer games are either infested with cheaters or they have root based anti cheat software.

It's always been a lose lose and why I've just stopped playing multi-player games in general. Ever since they took away the ability to maintain and moderate the servers from the players this new reality was always the end stage.

Just cut your losses and quit playing mp games.
