"No achievements no buy" & political nonsense

What the hell did I miss in the gaming world in the last 10 years that gaming has become so shallow that people would literally post crap like no achievements no buy on a game's reviews or discussions board, or even downrate a game because of that.

You really have no life goals like exercising, learning, teaching etc that you're bound to your digital self's "achievements", read: mostly insipid nonsense like collecting a bunch of crap that means nothing whatsoever?

When did gaming go from "is this game fun and/or have a memorable story" to "I will ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ this game because it doesn't give me pixel awards for collecting and killing more pixels"?

I get that some of you want some extra challenges but in that case...just make them up yourselves? You really need that little stamp of approval to make you feel special in life or something and if you don't get it, you'll literally knock off points from the game?

Wtf happened to gaming man? All this cringe "slava ukraine" crap people put on every board too, turning everything political...wtf there have been several major and minor conflicts in the last decades in the world, I don't see you asking for Afghani or Uyghur localization etc.

I can't open a single video game discussion or review board without reading some utterly cringe ♥♥♥♥, no wonder so many games flop on release, they actually listen to you people and your nonsense demands.

I'm going to agree with you on this. I've replayed plenty of games without achievements. Didn't bother me one bit.

While I do find achievements to be fun in some games the fact is they are annoying in others ...

I prefer to think at least a part of it has to do with controlling games by forcing achievements. You know some people can't live without having control over other things.

You are just assuming they have no life. You don't know what they do outside of posting. Now, if you just see them constantly posting 24/7, then you might be on to something.

It might not mean something to "you" but it definitely does mean a lot to the Achievement Hunters/Completionists out there.

You don't need to focus so hard on something you don't care about. All you are doing is making yourself angry and upset. Ignore it if you don't like it and if you think something is crap.

If you don't like the discussion board, avoid it. You can easily ignore/scroll pass what you don't like. You are making a big stank for nothing. Could be a baiter wanting some Awards but you ain't getting it from me.

No achievements no buy is not political nonsense.

You may not find achievements to be a very valuable feature but some whom are more inclined to their appreciation, or who have fond experiences with the Xbox 360 era, do, and thus they do not like their omission.

On top of that, this is more a a customer respect/bang for buck issue. Not all developers will personally care about achievements, or have a game that really fits with them, or have the technical skill for frills like that. Well, they will lose those customers, and that's all to that, move on.

But put down the guy with the No Achieve No Buy take? No.

I think not that long ago we were concerned with Skinner boxes and games that benefit from gambling addiction. Maybe that was longer ago than I think. We lost that battle. Now people don't feel that a game is rewarding if it doesn't reinforce their operand conditioning.

Nobody cares about Ukraine either - people only care because it's the invader, not the invadee, all of a sudden the Russophobia from the last 60s year caught up to both sides of the political spectrum.
