Which games would that be?
Dont know a single one which would be tied to a single Account with it's physical copy.
Every battle.net game for instance, lots of EA, Ubisoft games, etc
Thats how Starcraft, Diablo 2, etc all worked for instance. Also every MMO, many online focused games, etc.
Others you had only a certain number of activations and then your key became useless
They're already raving and crying in the comments of the announcement and in the Steam Families group.
Already happening. Who knew westerners had so many "family members" in 2nd/3rd world counties/cheap Steam regions.
It's available now as a separate beta in the settings.
It will go live for everyone in about 6-8 weeks.
oh that's great. Going to see how I can get in on this beta. Thanks for the info!
ack spoke too soon. So you still can't play different games from the same account, which is understandable...just that I bought all the games in one account and only recently tried to separate accounts for my sons.
So I'm still stuck with not being able to play Last Epoch on another account (because this game doesn't allow Family Sharing apparently) while my son plays Monster Hunter: Rise on the main account. Wish there was a way I can just like transfer a game from one Steam account to another, such as Monster Hunter: Rise as only my son plays that game and I got it for him. If I knew prior, I would have bought this title on the other Steam account grrr...
Ah well...
It was never their intention to allow one account play simultaneously on multiple devices and even Valve stated, "Steam Families does not address this feature request."

Understood...but at least allow transfer of said games from one account to another then if its in the Family? I mean why not?
I mean I did buy the game, why not then let me transfer a game I bought for my kid but I would never play to his account so that I can play my game in peace and he can play his.
Transferring licenses has never been a thing and it would be even worse than it is now with inventory items that scammers hijack.
I said WITHIN FAMILY. I don't see how this is an issue with scammers?
This is not true. Now that we have the Family Sharing Beta that I just tried out, you can authorize it and even IP restrict it to be within one location.
