Steam has started declining my refunds that are fully within the refund policy (14 days, less than 2 hours played)
Actually most of the game are not being played, and the game that I filed for refund and got declined is not being played at all!

All the item purchase: 150 items
Items got refunded:49 items
Items already played(Under 2 hours):5 items

All the items are bought from: 3/15/2024~3/18/2024

All of a sudden steam has been declining my refund since 3/18/2024 and telling me the reason was I'm abusing the refund policy????

Any help???

3/20/2024 UPDATE:

Steam has finally took my refund request.
(with a clear warning tho.) Horay!!!

If you are getting that message that means that you DID request too many refunds. Steam's refund policy is not a substitute for "try before you buy". That's what demos are for. But unfortunately, making them is not obligatory so many developers don't.

steams refund policy is iffy at best its not ment to demo games, its made to return a broken unworking game in extreme situations.

steam fails to provide that knowledge to its customers, this isn't a buy and return digital store.

you are simply outta luck most of the time if you buy a defective product online getting it refunded is often impossible. steam will simply delete your tickets for refunding and might even put a block of purchasing on your account to stop you from buying games so they don't have to deal with your constant refunding spam.

be warned steam is out to make money not give you a free game for a hour so you can give it back to them.

But my point is the items I ask for refund are not being played at all! (Not even installed to begin with!) And they still declined my refund. There's no "try before buy" situation.

this is all miss information.... LOL

steam is 2 hours and 2 weeks to get a refund... simple....

those people that abuse the refund policy
with excessive refunding lose the refund option. simple...

there is no iffy or blurred lines... buy games you want
and wont refund and you will have no issues with the
refund policy when you really need it...

thank you for your time.... enjoy your games...

They should state a clear number for having "too much refund".

While there is no statement how many refunds are too many, 100 refunds are definitely too many. As stated in the policy itself, it's there first and foremost in case of a technically defect product or an occasional case of buyer's remorse. 100 refunds is not an occasion.

Buying 150 games and then refunding more then 1/3 of them is abusing the refund policy hands down. They even warn you on the refund page about that. Pretty much every store in the world would ban you for doing that.

They won't because then people would abuse it while staying just under that number.

You shouldn't need someone to tell you refunding 50+ games in 3 days is excessive...

And how many refund is "too much" for steam?

How about all the previous refund are all approved and this refund are all within the refund policy?(Not being played at all, purchased within 14 days, well actually just yesterday )

Now I lost my faith in Steam.

They warn you and send emails. They will not release a definitive number as that would let abusers like you to get away with more abuse.

Actually they tell you this one the refund page

Its actually incredibly easy. I've yet to find any online store who won't refund me a product that is broken as long as its under its warranty or refund period. Works the exact same way with physical stores.

Both are completely false, they won't block your account from buying games, please don't spread false information. The most they will do is block you from using refunds

Umm why would anyone need to be warned about that, you literally just described how every store in the world works...

It is shocking that a renowned company like valve is not following their own policy. What ls more shocking is that there's people defending it.

Again, if they told you a number you'd just abuse it and keep doing it while staying just under that number. Refunding 50+ games in 3 days is crazy, and stores ban people completely for abuse like that.

Do that on ANY store and you will have the same result.

They are following their policy where they warn you in it that excessive refund will lead to your loss of being able to refund.

I don't think so, at least not in Europe or Korea.
