Animated mini profile backgrounds are glitchy + Steam Closing
Sorry if this is the wrong place to post this, I haven't used the steam forums before and I wasn't really sure where else to ask this lmao.

As the title says, for a little while now (haven't been keeping track but I think it's been about 2 weeks at least) most of the animated mini backgrounds (the ones that appear when you hover over a profile picture) have been glitchy for me. I can still see they're animated, but a lot of them just appear as lines for me now. There's some that appear normal for me (like looking at the points shop right now the Zup! 9 "Universe" one appears normal) but more often than not they seem to be lines. Animated avatars and full profile backgrounds seem to be fine though, it's only the mini backgrounds ones I've had trouble with.

Also I've been having an issue where I go to the main page and steam turns black and laggy for a short moment. It sometimes closes and reopens itself too. Unsure how related it is but it seemed to happen around the same time the mini profiles started glitching out for me.

Not sure if it's an issue on my end with my laptop or not (my photos app has been kinda laggier, though fully closing steam seemed to make it better), but since my issues seemed to be related to steam mostly I figured I'd ask here first, at least to see if anyone else has been having these problems or not. Also I'm still using Windows 10 if that's relevant.

Ever since the latest Steam client update, I've had this same issue. All the usual tricks to fix this did nothing (not even a full client re-install).

What did eventually end up fixing it for me was going to Settings -> Interface -> uncheck Enable GPU accelerated rendering in web views (requires restart).

One fix is to set your steam.exe to Windows 8 compatibility mode. Funnily enough, doing that breaks Elden Ring and it no longer launches.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Just tried it and that seems to have done the trick, thanks for the help.
