For poeple concerned with sweet baby inc having valve as their client

there is no cause for alarm or any concern if anything valve made a choice to try and change up their game play after all some people get sick from playing in gordons perspective they want to see the outside world of half life and how it came to be. if anything only advice taken was likely choosing alyx as a protagonist other then that valve likely made the choices from there on considering how much gabe knows what we players want and is himself a gamer he understands how balance two concepts at once while creating something new (look towards gabe's interview where he explains why they make their decisions with certain games) the only reason sweet baby called out to valve to take down the group was because they thought they had power over them (which they don't however reports are apart of system they abused and used. until valve noticed their actions in which they sided with the group and helped them with said reports) .


TLDR: sweet baby doesn't understand what valve does. and so makes situation where valve has to intervene to help out the group's creators as sweet baby as no real power over valve

there that should help people understand the situation all complied into one place

we can not know that for certain infact you might be wrong judging by how many projects failed due valve's original way of managing things + sweet baby inc wasn't really well known anyways until they started to become more public with what they had to say

Mate, Alyx was a proto-type game, its entire lore was basically a knock off of the canon Half-life all squeezed into the VR headset. Its no different then how Portal Help Desk was made as the test for the Steam Deck, both are in of themselves entirely basic and had zero outside help.

They could had released an insincere apology stating they would be more open minded to the preferences of the public in the future without taking any further action. I've said this a lot.

I suspect SBI may have had some hand in events like the "Game Devs of Color Expo" and the "LGBTQ+ Sale".

Also though, now that some insight into how SBI does business has come to light, I suspect SBI demanded more out of Valve, and Valve declined. SBI then called in their cancel culture goons in gaming media to launch a smear campaign against Valve for not bending the knee, as evident from a number of articles.

Why did Steam call SBI in the first place? I think it might have been this story, in which the ADL called Valve out for allowing extremists groups on their platform.

None of Valve's games show any sign of SBI meddling, and their most recent title, Half Life Alyx, came out before SBI was even a thing.

Alyx came out in 2020 though. So the ability for SBI to have influenced it is possible. Those would probably be superficial influences if that was the case though. But I'd argue that's how it is for most social oriented consultants.

To add, literally all they needed to do was say have one conference calm with SBI and bounce ideas off them, then pay for the time. And SBI could list them as customers.

That's quite literally the idea behind advisory roles in contract companies. But people see SBI and assume the worst due to their own lack of information.
