Memory Leak? - Steam Web Helper using 6GB of RAM

I left my PC on over night, went out for the day, and came back to my PC to find my RAM sitting at 75% usage while idle. A single steam web helper process had 6GB reserved.

This new UI isn't just a memory hog - it actively has a memory leak. I can deal with new visuals. I can put aside my disgust at web-based design infecting the rest of the steam UI. But this is an actual issue, and should have been caught in testing.

faster connection = fast downloading = less memory for storing = no leaks

yes it does old pc cant handle all stale internet history so it bogs up

hence your memory leak

fast connection negates all that and you have low usage like a normal person

what do you think webhelpers are for to store downloaded web data

they are high ram usage cause your old pc cant keep up with deleting and storing new downloaded data

speed limited as other user stated fixes this

so i thank valve for this nifty feature

ever since i used the speed limiter for fast connection option ive been having 23 mb ram usage, very swelt

well link this fake info you gathered from where ever and show us the nonsense you believed after a few seconds of reading...

webhelpers do not save downloaded wed data (they are not a storage system) and steam memory leak has zero to do with internet speed.
