Steam Web helper using over 1200 MB ram. with new rework. 2-3 x as much as it used to???

(Retyping this as i'm an idiot and shutdown the process for a test without copying text first)
(have steam overlay disabled due to always running multiple games)

"steam client webhelper" was using 1230+ MB ram with 7 sub-processes.
"steam" process itself using 350 MB for a combined 1530

ive always had issues with the webhelper eating more ram than a lot of decent games out there, but now just by itself it is eating as much as simultaneously running 2-4 lower-end games at once just by itself

after "end task"ing the process steam client webhelper sits at 623-ish MB and 18 sub-processes

some poor gamers who are still stuck with 8-16 GB ram wal-mart PC's will be dedicating almost 20% or 10% of their ram to steam alone

Click STEAM top left of home page
from there>SETTINGS>INTERFACE>
UN-Check ---"Enable GPU accelerated rendering in web views"---

After doing this (while still more than the old one) steam client WebHelper has been sitting at a much lower(and stable) 630 MB while the steam client dropped down to a mere 75 MB

On my computer steam client webhelper was at 1500mb. It was also constantly using 2% CPU on the background. It's total CPU time was higher than firefox that i had used all evening to browse and watch tv.

I have only played a game today, launched from tray. Didn't interact with steam UI.

Definitely a bug.

This is my current usage after the new update. I leave Steam open all the time. The new interface is just laggy and quite glitchy. I don't really like it at all. Hard to read posts as the page sits there and flashes for some reason. Ugh :(

The prior UI client did around 400mb, the new UI client does 700MB just sitting idle, and 1GB plus when you start doing things in the steam client. Eventually I have seen people say it reached 2-3GB of Ram usage, given enough time.

Avoid browsing internet with it ... only the steam store.

Under the old release i got 1 cef root and 8 childs cef and the shell and the service while using the +connect and a little trick , only 2 process, the shell and the service

It you can go down to 3 cef ,it's a nice trade off

You can also disable many "confort stuff" like smouth scrolling, remote play,and many other point that are in the interface option and memory consumming, use libray as start page and you can get around 500mo on my version : that's less than 200mo just for "beauty" stuff.
