Soooo...inability to get Steam to minimize to taskbar when playing a game is a new 'function' of the new client?
Anybody know how to revert it back?

These fidget spinners had one job, launch a game. Wish I'd never used this platform and got my games direct.

Steam support response:

"Hi there,

Thank you for reaching us out!

Looks like it works as intended in the new Steam client update: If you exited Steam, it now starts up and launches the Steam window when launching a game directly from a shortcut on the desktop. You have to tab out to close/minimize the Steam App.

However we value feedback from the Steam community. I'm forwarding your comments on to the appropriate department.

Additionally, if you wish to share an opinion, suggestion, or idea with the community as well, please visit the Suggestions/Ideas section of the Steam Discussion forums.

Well at least I got a response within a fortnight this time I guess :/

Even the Origin and Ubisoft realized this forced window popup is truly an annoying thing and they removed it, made their launcher to go into system tray upon game launch. But it seems like Steam is going backward in logic...

Forced window popups are indeed not a good feature. Hoping they make that optional as it's incredibly annoying and NOT user friendly
