at this point they might as well be using edge >.>
genuine question: Why would you use their barely-functional and greedy storefront?
whenever there was only 1 supplier for a product, it always ended up badly for the customer, because they didnt have to improve their service or anything cuz if you wanted that product you needed to come to them so without real competition why even bother improving
steam with 80% of all pc games being exclusive to steam with 30% cut of all profit, taxing in game purchases also, is pretty much a multi billion dollars monopoly , so maybe they should start being at a ,, loss " and actually do something for its clients like all the other storefronts do and not simply get used to passive income that will come anyway and do nothing
i'm willing to bet that a vast majority of the "active users" are only there to play fortnite, and maybe claim some free games you'll definitely play one day.
steam's had all the stuff you listed for years though....?
sales are set by game's developers btw.
but yeah, if epic wants to be considered as anything more than the salty marketing black hole that bribes off game devs, epic's gotta step up their game and actually give a ♥♥♥♥.
and even then, epic is a marketing black hole. You release your game there only for it to die before it's even gotten off the ground.
Already happened to me twice - 2 games i thought were neat went epic exclusive, and i totally forgot about them due to that. Probably would've bought them day 1 if that hadn't happened.
Hell, they're gonna come to steam regardless. Just like console games getting ported, it's a no-brainer move to maximize profits by slapping the game onto every storefront.
Epic bribing indie devs for exclusivity is super greedy though. I can't think of another company that ever does that.
A game launcher is also kinda supposed to be more than a store. Epic doesn't have nearly as many of the great features Steam has - achievements, screenshots, workshop, discussions, the in-game overlay, etc.
They just got salty at Valve taking some of their money for each game's sale, so they turned around and made their own ♥♥♥♥♥♥ version to take other people's money instead - but lowered the price cut a bit as a form of virtue signalling so people think they're better by default for something no other platform has bothered to do since nobody's ever really cared.
Going by that logic, PlayStation and Xbox are the same. A lot of games get buried under whatever big new triple A release game out.
I do agree that Valve should have more quality control, but at the same time it's kinda your job to market your own stuff. Steam's had a "new releases" section for years too, so it's not like they're purposefully trying to hide new games or some ♥♥♥♥.
I would also like to see these "great sales numbers" compared to other entries in the franchise, because I know Borderlands 3 sold a mere fraction of the copies second game did upon release due to it being epic exclusive.
In addition, I do question why you're even here if you apparently hate Steam so much. Why bother using their platform if you think epic is so much better?
guess who will be the trend.
"great sales numbers"
almost by AAA when they sell cheap game
come on now
i have no troubles with epic and their exclusives
things like this have been happening forever in the world of sales
i even like the year long beta testing that epic is giving those of us who do not use it
only reason i have not jumped into it was that the entire thing felt rushed and janky
i also love competition in a market
it only helps us
that all being said,
they are paying out the behind to get what they have and have said it is not something they can do forever
they have also got nowhere near the number of sales that steam does
so, they are certainly an up and comer
but they have yet to do anything that steam needs to worry about
They also are missing some of the most basic features steam offers.
Oh and when a judge handed EPic a great big handful of "no" when they tried to challenge the industry standard of 30%
