Music Player is Rip
Unsurprisingly, instead of listening to user feedback and not only making custom music files worthless and only being able to use the music player available in the overlay only use soundtracks of games you bought, they just removed the music player entirely and now soundtracks are from the steam web client. No overlay at all. Thank you Steam.

CUSTOM MUSIC WORKS!
This is without downgrading Steam, it technically being the current version, just using the old UI, and you can still set custom music folder paths and it plays no problem, tested with my custom mp3s just now, no issues, it's the exact same old UI, but just still in the recent Steam build.

VALVE HAS LITERALLY NO EXCUSE NOT TO BRING IT BACK AND FIX THEIR INFERIOR NEW UI.

Better use it till you can, that workaround will only work for a month tops.
I've mostly ended up switching to xmplayer nowadays, rather than the built in music player that is now limited to bought soundtracks.

Pop a nice compact theme onto it and add some .flac support and it is fantastic to use.

There are some games like Payday 2 where the soundtrack DLC still use the old standard which makes it harder to rely on the new music player for that. But it's up to the devs to fix that now.
like player is gone unless its game soundtrack you buy the option is honestly you have to tab

I think that's very good, but they won't do it because the company policy is not customer-oriented.

Otherwise the guys wouldn't have destroyed the MP3 player.
And Winamp, as well as other external MP3 players, are also not a good option for the old MP3 player.
How many games crash when accessing the external MP3 player?!
That was the groundbreaking unique selling point of the old MP3 player

Based on the subterranean reviews online, Steam won't be around much longer and our games will be a thing of the past, it's not GOG, where you can save the game files to your hard drive.

And that's useless, it doesn't work.

Conclusion:
I've decided to stop buying games on Steam like many other consumers after this ♥♥♥♥ with the MP3 player.
In the last few years I've had to put up with a lot from Steam, poor support, probably due to poor treatment and management, as well as a lot of false information about games such as languages that didn't exist or only partially existed and/or exist. Regular technical problems, including bad changes to the Steam client that hardly anyone needs or wants. Just like additional registrations with other publishers, why use Steam? I can switch to them straight away, their platforms aren't any worse now, thanks to Steam's aberrations in taste.

Play what I paid for and that's it. :steamsad:

I'm surprised people used this when things like youtube and spotify exist.
Winamp here.

Also, steam Music Player to play your own music was also handy. Now that it's completly removed and only uses what soundtrack you bought is mandatory, perhaps I'll have to use good old winamp with my music collection to listen.
Now that brings early 2000's back like nothing else. Remember the llama?
