Only feature they missed is ALL CAPPS :steamfacepalm:
Thank you for this. So many sites and applications have been doing this for years, thinking that BIGGER is BETTER... when it's not. It's a complete eyesore. Those who are near-sighted or have difficulty reading can just use the zoom-in function that's built-in with browsers, or the magnifier program built into Windows (or whatever equivalent I'm assuming other OS's have).

I genuinely don't understand what the intention was behind this UI change... It feels like many designers out there don't seem to understand the phrase "Don't fix what isn't broken."

Yes I have felt this way since like 2017 or so when developers started making every web site on the internet zoomed in to like 300% it's ridiculous! Web pages today are unreadable. I literally have one of the smallest smartphones, an old iPhone SE which is the size of an iPhone 5, and on that tiny device the huge fonts makes things unreadable. I hate how everything is an infinite scroll. Anybody remember the 2000s when you could actually fit all the content on the page in just one or two screens? But at some point people decided we need to waste all the space on the screen, cram everything into a tiny column with fixed width and make that column the height of the Empire State Building.
By now, I would have expected a GUI under settings so we can change it to our liking.

Easy fix !

Steam > Settings > Interface > Uncheck "Scale text and icons to match monitor"

Also, that we have invented this thing called contact lenses or glasses you can take on and off. If I get near sighted, I'll just get a pair of prescription glasses instead of losing screen real-estate because of zooming in stuff. On sites that made stuff bigger I use the zoom function in my browser to zoom it out to what would be the original scale. Didn't get a 2560x1440 to see less.

Steam > Settings > Interface > Uncheck "Scale text and icons to match monitor"
No such option
With the text size and buttons, I almost thought they pushed the mobile app to desktop by accident.

No such option

It's the first or second option in the Interface tab in settings. It's there.

Yeah, that is a weird one. I am in the stable version which would be behind beta and have the option. Never went into beta all my time of being on steam so no left-over stuff. Also yes, I just had to poke fun at the fact the new menu shares the design language of Windows 11's settings menu. I mean come on.

Don't have the beta, they would have to pay me to use their beta ;)
