How well Skyrim performs on 270X (or HD7870)?
Hello,

I have been looking at some benchmarks over the internet and all of them shows that the 270X is capable of playing at maxed settings, 1080p at 70FPS, hell when walking around a village the FPS goes above 100FPS. I thought this is too good to be true since the benchmark could just be based on non-combat scenarios.

What about you? Do you guys experience severe frame rate drops or sub-60FPS experience with the 270X or similar hardware? This benchmark shows the 270X do suffer frame-rate drops but it NEVER go below 60FPS. http://us.hardware.info/reviews/4976/24/amd-radeon-r9-270-review-the-elder-scrolls-v-skyrim---1920x1080-+-frame-times

Please do look at avg. frame rate and frame-time graphs.

I have a 60hz monitor so aslong it is 60FPS and above I won't experience stuttering. Is the benchmark true or synthesised?

Thank you.

Good to hear! What about no Realvision ENB? What about during heavy combat and castle seiges? Any major drops there?

Cool, what anti-aliasing do you use? I just got the R9 270X only 2-3weeks ago but many of the games I got cannot handle more than 2XMSAA like BF4 because it is too demanding. Bioshock Infinite only uses FXAA which makes everything blurry. Also you seem to know about mods, can you help me? Link: http://steamcommunity.com/app/72850/discussions/0/630800444611223987/

Have you installed the lasted beta drivers? Skyrim plays pretty nice on Amd cards. I have a 7870 myself.
AMD Catalyst 13.12 WHQL pretty stable and nice driver :)

My last driver installation was 3rd Dec 2013. It is a bit outdated but many of the drivers were mostly fixes for R9 290 and Crossfire so i didn't bother. But I might update drivers tonight.

For the anti-aliasing i really couldn't say what the problem may be so sorry :( and for Skyrim i have it turned off for Realvision ENB to work as it must me turned off but anyway for a much better playthrough of the game i recommend you get the mod Realvision ENB, look at some of my skyrim screenshots and maybe watch some videos of it on Youtube you will see why you should get it. As for the anti-aliasing once again i'm sorry to say i can't help you there but if anything i would agree with Zurvan maybe update you're drivers. :pandastunned:

I have HD 6850 which is an older card than you have.
Without any mods it runs about ~100fps on high 1080p and about ~60fps on ultra 1080p.
Mods are too overkill for my card however.

And you should ask on Skyrim Community Hub discussions.

Ok thank you for the suggestions guys. Also does Realvision ENB reduce aliasing atleast? I guess I should download some mods now.

Play on high, not ultra.
Ultra takes damn lot more power and doesn't make the game any prettier.. It's just all those extreme npc distances etc.

Well I just installed a heavy visual mod (Enchanced Light and FX), its kind of like ENB but very little performance hit and I atleast get 55FPS which is good.
