Snow Globes - Steam Winter (sale) Event

Steam just released the first "information" about their upcoming winter event - the Snow Globes.
They added a new Badge to craft to your profile with a set of 10 cards. Right now you can obtain those cards by crafting any badge. Instead of receiving coupons you'll get any of those cards. They've done the same during the summer sale where they added those cards a couple of days before the actual sale started!
Edit: News just in - you can't craft them yet. As soon as they unlock them we will add Badges/Emoticons/Backgrounds asap :-)

10 is just too much, and it won't force me to buy more and more cards to quickly get 10 badges this winter. But I find it as a way better thing to sell than coupons

While it would be nice to get a little more with the badges I do enjoy being able to customize my profile with special game backgrounds and what not...

I find cards a nice opportunity to learn trading mechanics and to make few bucks, by buying a less valuable card (first make sure there's enough gap between the low and high one in the set), change it for the most valuable card from the same set and then sell it. Or I just bought a background from a new game for 0.03€ yesterday, came today and found it's being selled for 0.07€. Well at least I just crafted myself an even nicer one from Universe Sandbox, which can change it

I would like to see something that actually rewards you for being a customer. Something like the coal idea of giving away games, but attached to purchases. Eg. if you spend $200 during the sale you get 20% of what you paid as steam credit, $50 gets you 5% with a maximum of $500 and 50%, and to stop abuse, make it so all purchases must be for you and not gifts or for inventory. This would incourage people to spend as much as they can afford to and help support the game industry.

yes its a great idea but they wouldn't give you 50% or even 20% and also lots of people me included love to buy 4 packs or individual games for friends when they are cheap.but yeah we will have to wait to see what steam will do MAYBE they will do soemthing COMPLETELY DIFFERENT and out fo the blue which everyone will like.

Precisely the Christmas Coal farming and abuse was what "killed" the old sale events.
That even is the example of why Steam no longer does their events the old way.

Guys don't spend a penny on this cards for now just wait.
You will getting them free just by voting in winter sale plus you will be able to buy them for as low as $0.05 since every single steam user and his grandma will have one for trade/ sale when the winter sale starts.

Just look at the summer cards still in thousands for trade.
