A while back there was a game I can't remember which one but it was 90% off for me in the UK. However, when looking on SteamDB at the prices the lowest price (Turkey or Argentina) was 90% off the 90% price for me. This made the game pennies for the same game I was paying pounds for, that's not good business for developers.
Checking the prices on Pirates of the Caribbean - At Worlds End, lowest recorded price for me is £3.74, the lowest recorded price for Argentina is £0.13 and Turkey is £0.22. While we would love to have games at those prices it is not sustainable for developers.
It was also Valve who added the new pricing minimums that made them no longer purchasable for being priced too low.
Goes back to the crux. "Is it worth it?"
Supply and demand. WHen the supply of manpower, particularly low skilled manpower is high, then it becomes the buyer's market.
There are rich people in third world countries. They have their middle class. Products are priced for those that can afford them. It's not pretty but the truth is. if you want it, you're gonna have to earn it. You aren't entitled to any luxury goods and the simple truth is, if the people really are so poor. how they affording the machine to run the games in the first place?
It is not.
But it is your fault if you keep interacting with people that are here just to cause conflict ;)
Don't give them any attention, that's all they want.
Which resulted in various games not being available anymore for a lot of people... how's that a good thing?
It is like "if a new rule comes to life which makes ONLY the rich ones to take advantage of, it gets massive support". It is like "if you aren't born in selected regions nor RICH, better keep mum about everything, bow down, and get out".
Because, it is a Corporation, it is "THEIR CALL". (as if we didn't know it since childhood)
Because, gaming is a LUXURY. (as if it wasn't a "luxury" just two years ago)
Because, there is INFLATION. (As if inflation doesn't strike the poorer ones a lot worse than Corporations worth of billion of dollars)
I know this post won't change anything in this subforum (Steam Discussions) but i am also the last one to surrender. I will die but not surrender. The Will to fight for Justice* overcomes the will to play those overpriced games and shut up.
*=The legion will come up with sarcasm and remind me how i "don't make any sense". How i "don't deserve criticizing multi-billion dollar companies because it is 'their call'".
Yeah, it's clear that some people here think Valve is always right.
And what kind of people would think this way? Only people that love Valve or their own employees.
(I'm sure you know what I mean by "people that love Valve"...)
But, i do not seek a job in Valve nor in Microsoft. Buying them (both) is a possibility for me though. But being an employee of them below their board? 0% chance.
You people act like corporations should be charities. You do realize that they are expressly amoral organizations that exist solely to return a profit to shareholders, yes?
And as a luxury. It's something you can live without. Ergo. If you want it. You gonna ghave to pay whatever the seller deems they want. Just like if someone wants to hire you they gotta pay what you demend.
Would you give up the ability to set yuour own salary/wages?
ANd now you're conflating companies with countries. These two things are not equal and companies have to deal with inflation too. More so than any one individual.
So you cannot abide a world of fair balance and will only accept a world where everything is slanted to your favour... you're basically exopressing the same mentality you project onto thise billion dollar companies.
It seems rather silly to criticize someone else exercising a right you exercise as well.
YOu have the ability to set your prices. Why you criticizing someone else's ability to set theuir prices? WOPuld you rather neither of you had that right?
