Is Steam the best gaming client ever?
I've used them all and I have to commend Steam for their app. Nice interface, super fast download, good and fair returns policy. I remember many years ago I was annoyed that games were slowly becoming digital only and we wouldn't have physical copies of them to own, but how times have changed. Haven't had a DVD/CD drive in my gaming rig for years.

If you can think of a better gaming client, I'd like to hear it

No, it's not the best, far from that. Steam forces you to wait when you want to play your games. Forcing updates on single player games, what a joke... :lunar2019crylaughingpig:

walmart never banned me from support for complaining about their broken **** >.>
they banned you because you kept shouting at them to support windows 7 also asking for refunds that can't be granted
lol I never asked for any refunds...

just because I posted supporting points in the thread that was demanding refunds doesn't mean I'm personally demanding a refund...

I can support a thing on the basis of the opposition being wrong.
Steam is most popular for sure, but lets face it we all know it could be so much better.
Steam has always coasted on being functional rather than exceptional due to that popularity.

I'd agree with others that GOG is likely the 'best' as it essentially doesn't hold your games (thus your spent money) to 'ransom', and does put some effort in to make sure your games will run even beyond the platforms potential lifespan.

Elon Musk should Start a Gaming Client that will Respect those with older PC (OS) and not Locking Clients from Playing their Games They Have Paid because They Haven't upgrade for any of their Personal reasons
You had me until you said Elon Musk.
Elon Musk is the guy who sells electric cars but when they broke customers are being told that they shouldnt have used these cars in the rain. So yeah, we really need some Musk quality in gaming world ;-)

The only other client I use is the EA App and let me tell you, even with all my grievances with Steam's client, it's still WAY better than the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ EA calls a client lmao

I would say Will Harbin over Elon Musk unless it was just for money with little input into the software for the older OS's. Elon Musk otherwise would probably do something big headed and tank the product's value.

Will Harbin for his sins knows how to make money and how to milk it from people because he will give them what they want.
Get ready for 'Elon's Gaming Universe,' where the most revered forum posters have blue ticks and even the smallest bug is considered a feature!

So like now with jesters and the broken back button?

I guess. 😅 Launching Steam has felt like clicking Google's "I'm Feeling Lucky!" button since the June 2023 update.

steam has a competitor to discord on it (which is very similar), no ads, great availibility of games and many easy ways to get help and i agree with this guy

I haven't tried them all, but going by what other people have said I would say it's easily top 3 if not the best. battle net is easily the worst.

except idk what battle net is

Battle net from memory i havnt used for awhile but you could play the original Starcraft on it for free.
Get it and play Starcraft you know you want to...
Battle.net is pretty good since you don't need the process in the background while you play. You can completely close it and you can still play. But there's not a lot of games on it and honestly I don't really like supporting them today. Since they are not what they use to be. It's fully corporate now and the games they have now are bland and they suck you dry with micro-transaction.

is this... is this guy for real? or is some troll doing a funny bit
I don't need a "client" or a "launcher" it was inserted in the dark of night, decades ago, not labeled "steam required to play", before they were forced to legally declare it on labels.
I don't buy DRM software anymore. I buy from GoG.
