Steam doesn't allow Win 7 any more
So Steam are saying it won't run on Windows 7 machines any more. Not "we are not supporting" but "it won't run".

So Steam think I have to buy a new laptop to keep playing the games I paid for?

Good-bye Steam, you won't be getting any more of my money

no you dont need a new laptop

your laptop is more then capable of upgrading to win10 or win11

i had to get a bios update for tpm2 from my mother board company..

do people still need to check a few things before upgrading..
you dont need tpm2 for win11 lol
you can install win11 with rufus to bypass those silly restrictions, i have bypassed tpm2 and installed win11 on 2 "unsupported systems"

i am curious about the longevity of this

is it possible for ms to

"re-trigger"

that check in an update down the line?

just something that i would be worried about if i did it
people have been using rufus for years so imagine its safe

They're the "I'll throw the printer out when the ink is low and buy a new one" type of person.

I second this, I already put Windows 11 on 7th gen i5 some days ago and it's doing fine after I ran "O&O ShutUp10++" tool

The EULA of ANY game or live service will tell you that the system requirements may change overtime and it is the users responsibility to remain up to date on these requirements to continue using said product.
Also GOG, Epic, Ubisoft, and EA are also dropping support for anything before Win10 on JAN 1 too.
So running to a different store won't work.

MS does not need to recheck it, as they get the System Infos with the Windows update or just the General Info in the System screen.

Read that ms might at some point Block/stop Updates trough the Updater for non supported Systems (those who bypassed the check).
Don't worry OP. Mr Spencer is going to buy Valve, and you will be able to access your library thru Xbox :steamhappy:
