Steam is catching the malware before it being spread to the users through the updates like they always have.
Edit: Looks like the requirement is for a single phone number to provide an SMS code, not even Steam's mobile auth.

2FA is a joke and is not going to change squat. Nothing changed with that news outlet as far as I know, same old off chance that something bad happen just as it has always been before.
Yeah steam was NOT breached. Don't spread false rumors. Also the effected games already were taken care of, so the issue is over.
