whats the point of censorship in gaming
why do companys try to control people and what they say. i feel like its a very big red line since their can be impotent feedback or something that gets stopped.

some game companys will delete bad reviews and claim them as breaking tos or something to cover up or mold a game community to be only simps to fav the simps for the game to give them more money.

i feel like gaming should be ruleless by speech. cheating/greifing and smurfing is massive problems in gaming that is ignored so much but speech is heavily censured.

i growed up on bo2 and mw2 mostly and i never cared what people said to me since its the internet and people who say stuff online don't usually do it in real life.

gaming is seen to me as a escape, a way to behave a different way than you live.

life is already corporate, all the teachers and people i met in my life having to watch what they say must be mad annoying since people can take it out of context or the wrong way.

but now in online gaming or gaming as a whole we are forced to live the corp life as well. we no longer have a escape and i feel like gamers have become more toxic and depressed because of this. since now people have to watch what they say or they get access removed from social platforms or online games even.

from a corprate side i get it you want a clean product to max out money but then you actually lose money by doing this.

every multiplayer game punish you for "misbehaving", this just makes adults feel like children and will quit the game and not support that company anymore. this happens with community servers as well, if you treat new members like a child and abuse your power and what not they won't comeback and you won't make profit from donos for the server.

who talk about all this woke garbage but still control people and what they say and trying to change how people think and stuff.

i guess its the consequences of live service, we no longer can't just buy a game and play it and behave how we want. we are forced to live in a cage by corporates to profit out of us.

idc tbh i enjoy singleplayer games, i have more freedom to do stuff my way and enjoy games. for companys to be biased and control what is ok and whats not makes no sense to me.

you swear and you can get perma banned but you can throw 100000 hours of games and no one cares.

crazy.

thank you for reading my ted talk and nothing here what i said will matter and no one will prob read it so i will say i am gay

"People would never make it in an old lobby" - Same person also upset that people have their own rules.
Chompman Oct 12, 2023 @ 1:06am
Game devs cannot delete reviews on steam as they can only report them and steam will look if they are breaking the rules.

You have never been able to do anything you want in multiplayer games as they have always had rules and abusing it could result in bans.

Online games have always had code of conduct rules, it's just now, Devs have better methods to enforce these rules.

idk its like the saying biting the hand that feeds you, them pushing their rules on the players just gonna make players move to singleplayer games and the multiplayer game genre will die.

i know a lot of games are very lean on rules and keep it simple like no slurs and stuff but thats it and i see they have more success then games that censer.

Given how massive the multiplayer game market is, and has been, that's patently false.

People upset because they can't drop a slur, threaten someone, or abuse others via comms, are a minority in the multiplayer scene.
i feel like i should add this since it makes sense but as a comment. i have had friends who were "interesting" when i was growing up and now a days they are changed 180. like nothing will change but will age. i legit see teens are toxic but then they are more mature as adults. i feel like punishing what people say and do as teens can effect their mental pretty bad since then they become less confident as adults.

Part of growing up is accepting there's consequences of your actions, and most comms related punishments are temporary.

Punishment is part of healthy growth into adulthood, teens are always testing their boundaries to see where they fit into society as an adult, setting boundaries and rules is not a detriment to that.

Try again?

i feel like you say minority but sense they are just not vocal at all.

like if you got banned from a game you would just move on. i feel like this is what everyone does. they are prob the majority but simple act like a minority since theres nothing you can do. a ban is a ban.

Again, a majority of comms bans are temporary. And those actually upset that they can't abuse others over comms, are a minority. Most people, just wanna play the game.

As evident with how popular several multiplayer games are, regardless of enforcing comms bans to abusive individuals.
Just as you're not obligated to support or play a game, the game's Devs aren't obligated to host a platform that allows abusive behavior/speech.

You have this wrong: Maybe to some it's true,

The way I look at it is this:

I won't support Newer Products anymore by said Companies,
but i'll still enjoy the older Games by said Companies, because
that isn't something that can be ruined by these Companies,
& i'll still continue to thank these Companies for making them,
but I sure as hell will hate these Companies for what they are
making & creating right now going forwards...

You see, Companies & many People are saying, oh, oh no,
they are ruining old Games, & old Content, & destroying their
image, oh, no, oh, woe is us?

But the truth is, that isn't true at all, as a matter of fact all these
Companies are doing is ruining New Content they are dishing out,
old Content is not being ruined, only New Content is being ruined,
& People can hate all this new Content all they want, but after all
said and done, the old Content will still be untouched...

Even if Companies try to make it impossible for us to go,
& play the older Content, & block us from playing them,
Companies still can't stop us from loving that Content,
because it was part of a Culture we grew up with, & there
just is no changing that, simply taking them away won't
change how we feel about them...

Heck, i've had Movies that i've only seen 1nce in my entire life,
& I still to this day am glad I was able to see them, & still find
them as great Movies, & I still remember how great they were,
even though i've only seen them once...

The same could be said about Video Games, the only thing
these stupid Companies are doing, is making us hate all this
Woke Conent coming out? I say it's stupid, because they are
not effecting how we think about Video Games at all, they aren't
doing anything at all, remotely effective against us at all...

They are just wasting their time & our time with this...

I could quit Video Games tomorrow, & it all would be a stupid
attempt on their end to try, & keep pushing this stupid market
forwards... I could quit Video Games anytime I want, & what
these Companies are doing would mean absolutely nothing
to me at all...

So realistically, these Companies are doing nothing,
they are doing nothing... It's just stupid as all hell,
to what they are doing...

But here is the even more moronic part, is that these Companies
actually, actually believe they are doing something with any of this,
& they actually believes they are going somewhere with this,
they actually believe something is coming out of this...

It's like how dum do these Companies have to stoop down to,
that they just don't see it... That People just don't give two
craps what they are doing...

You want Mortal Kombat 1, you want Mortal Kombat 2 to be
the worst Game ever made? Why should I give a crap, I won't
even buy it, I won't even make the effort to play it... So the only
People being effected by the whole crazy mess, is the actual
dum idiots who are making, creating, & developing them,
because they actually have to put in the effort to do all the
work that needs to go into the making of them, & it's all just
a bunch of wasteful work effort on their sides that they are
just stupid for doing these things with these Games, it is
just like holy sht how moronic are these People to not get
any of this from what they are doing compared to how People
are actually responding to what they are doing...

You want Change? How is this for Change?

I can care less, & don't give a sht...
Meaningless Pathetic Change is just Stupid...

But Game Developers can be as Stupid as they want,
they can do whatever they want, & they can push stupid
agendas all they want... No matter what comes out of this,
my Status will still be the same... I won't be driven to Change,
& these Game Developers won't make any difference to me...

who talk about all this woke garbage but still control people and what they say and trying to change how people think and stuff.

i guess its the consequences of live service, we no longer can't just buy a game and play it

Your Absolutely right, & you know what?

I never supported the idea that we make everything all Digital this whole time,
I always knew that it would come crashing down burning in our faces, because
going all Digital, I knew would take all the Control away from us, & put it all into
these Companies hands, & I knew this whole time that they would see this as
an Oportunity to turn on us Customers... & I never stopped believing that...

But your dum idiot Customers on these Platforms in the World kept saying that
Digital Media was better then Physical Media, & that supporting this would make
everything better, because People are foolish to believe anything if it looks good
enough in their faces, they will completely ignore the Warning of what they are
supporting, & it is for these People that you have things for as bad as they are now...

idc tbh i enjoy singleplayer games, i have more freedom to do stuff my way and enjoy games.

This simply isn't true, because even Single Player Games are still being effected
by these stupid changes... Simply, because your Single Player Games are still
connected to the Internet, & thus Updates to these Single Player Games can still
ruin these Single Player Games, just as Multiplayer Games are being ruined...

All it takes is a Simple Update, & your Screwed on any Game that you own...

thank you for reading my ted talk

lOl, I like how you called it Ted Talk??

Reminds me of the Serial Killer, oO
It's a bit long, i'll admit, but I think People would get my Point...

I only wanted to provide my point of View on it, because I don't
want to spend all day here creating an entire Thread of how
Multiple View Perspectives would be effected by this, it just
seemed like a better choice to show only 1 Point of View...

No.

They don't want to grow up. They just want to have no consequences for their actions: some people are *really* are that way.

Online games have always had code of conduct rules, it's just now, Devs have better methods to enforce these rules.

Again, they are not sorry they are caught: They are only complaining they are caught since its much easier to be caught. And that is unacceptable to them, since they want to run their mouth etc with zero consequences. And to them rules == censorship.

In their ideal world they want zero rules, regulations, etc at all since they believe somehow it will regulate it all itself out by natural justice. To them the trash will take themselves out, whatever they consider that "trash" to be.

Apparently. To them, the already exceptionally lax systems in CS are not lax enough. Zero censorship to them means absolutely zero consequences for anything they ever do.

As someone else said, if they want such a platform for such a game, by all means, people can invest the time and resources into doing so, especially with game development resources being so cheap these days. There is nothing truely stopping them if they are so inclined. People have been exceptionally resourceful given enough time, so if they want a game with zero consequences, there is zero reason to stop them making one, if they think the market for such a thing exists.

What someone thinks is important feedback may not actually be all that important, objectively speaking. How that feedback is delivered is also very important. Delivering like a toxic troll child means the feedback will, and should be, completely ignored, no matter how important it seems to be. Doing things the right way has never gone out of fashion, but the gaming community has seemed to have lost that concept.

Developers cannot delete reviews. Steam can delete or ban reviews if they break the TOS, as it should be. Again, this gets back to how one delivers the feedback they want to deliver.

False equivalency. There is no freedom of speech on private spaces, and there never should be. Rules are always necessary to prevent anarchy. Cheating and such are completely different subjects than someone being shown the door because they acted like a jerk in someone else's house.

That's good for you, but what works for you doesn't mean it will, or should, work for anyone else. The old saying of "Sticks and stones" no longer applies in this day and age. Not only can words be harmful, they can literally lead to someone's death - I have had the unfortunate experience to have been witness to that myself.

Gaming being an escape is not an excuse to act like an a-hole. Guess what, bud, there are other people also using gaming as an escape - they want to escape the a-holes they have to deal with in the real world. They have every right to do that as much as anybody else. Just because gaming can be used as an escape doesn't mean there aren't rules that need to be followed.

Well guess what bud, we as a society are realizing that words and actions actually do have consequences and that what we like as individuals isn't the priority, and never should be. In order to progress as a society, we actually have to consider that there are other people who make up this society who have different thoughts and feelings and those thoughts and feelings are no less important than yours.

Don't use gaming as an excuse to act like an a-hole. No one should have to put up with that kind of nonsense when they just want to enjoy some time away from the real world.

I suppose you have verifiable studies that prove this? Didn't think so, because you are entirely incorrect on that baseless assumption.

When children misbehave, they get punished. When an adult behaves like a recalcitrant child, they will be treated as such, as it should be.

Ah yes, there is it - the brainless dogmatic word of the day - I was wondering when that would make an appearance. The one simple axiom hasn't changed in centuries - don't act like an a-hole and you won't be treated like an a-hole.

You never could bud. Guess what, gaming has matured over the last 40 years. It's not the industry's problem that certain people haven't likewise matured over that time.

What's crazy is that people think there should be no consequences for their words and actions. That's a very selfish and self-centered, narcissistic point of view. Fortunately, society, generally speaking, has grown and matured beyond that way of thinking.
