Is It Wrong to Have Your Social Media Accounts on Your Steam Profile?
I was recently banned for a day from being able to change my name and change my profile text. I was banned because I linked a few of my social media accounts in my profile text. It was to New grounds, Lambda Generation, and a Portal 2 speed running website. I looked at the steam guidelines and the closest thing I think I was banned for was for Commercial Conduct. But I didn't do anything if the sort. I didn't market anything on Steam or on my accounts. On the community conduct section it did say to be specific and I didn't say that they were links to my socials, so I'll do that next time. Also, I put my accounts on my profile description because that's the only place to put them, as far as I know. Thanks for reading and please let me know if maybe I missed something and if I was in the wrong or not.

If you post links on your profile or in a profile comment, you get banned by their automated systems.

Contact support and ask which link triggered the ban and why.

I did, they said that they don't have a history for this type of stuff so they can'y tell me specifically why I was banned, but to make sure I follow the rules next time.

How long do the automated systems take? It's been almost a year with the links and it's only a problem now.

Seen plenty of people link to generic stuff, usually the Commercial Activity is only for blatant trade/sales sites instead of using the Community Market.

You give them the links in the support ticket.

Usually right after you post it, or if someone reports it. The issue is that, it seems, Steam recently subcontracted their moderation duties to a company that relies on AI moderation. When they first switched it on for the forums, it was a bloodbath. People were getting banned left and right for all kinds of things that were NOT rule violations. (I got banned for posting, "Yes," in reply to a simple question.)

At this point, I would not be surprised if have an AI bot just scanning through all profiles on a loop.

I think they are just cracking hard down on it more then normal. I wouldn't take it personal.
The world is a mess up place at the moment and the increase in crime & fraud is happening all over the place including the internet.

So many people get their accounts hijacked, which often result not only in goods being stolen but also scam links being sent out to others. Sometimes they even post these scam links on profiles in the hopes that someone will click them. It only makes sense that steam is doing their part to help prevent them such as restricting the use of certain links on profiles for advertising etc...

Ok, that makes sense
