Wishlist button on Free to Play games. Why?
I was browsing the Free-to-Play games page, and in the top right corner of each game's box is a big ol' "Add to Wishlist" button.

Why does a Free-to-Play game have a wishlist button? What am I supposed to do? Add it to my library tomorrow?

Why is the only option from the browse page to add it to your wishlist and not to directly add it to your library?

Not everyone wants to add a free game to their library immediately. Besides that, it's a waste of time to add code to the store to disable the wishlist button for F2P games. There are no downsides to being able to wishlist them, thus no need to waste resources on preventing it.
Don't try to understand the logic of the Steam interface. It doesn't make sense.

Makes perfect sense. The logic is very simple and I already explained it.

I've added loads of upcoming F2p games to my wishlist so I'd get a notification, heck even following works since I'd see their news posts in the activity. As someone has said, you can add a game to your wishlist and not play it at that time, nothing wrong with it.
Sometimes it is better just to add it to library now in case it switches to a paid model later on. An example of this would be Faeria which started F2P then switched to paid.

The only reason I can see for not adding it is to avoid notifications of all their monthly events. I do have friends that wishlist F2P games.

But adding it when it is f2p would not change that you need to pay for it later...
Actually no you are mistaken on that.

I haven't had to pay for any of the games I have that were f2p and turned paid.

as documented: https://partner.steamgames.com/doc/store/pricing#7
pinball FX for example. You may want to buy the tables down the line and aren't ready to commit.

Some people use their Wishlist instead of Following/tracking. A place to stuff games they might be interested in, in the future; but don't want to grab right now.

Because there are now free-to-play games in my Library that i can't get rid of.

Wish-listing them gives you the option of adding them later should you choose to.

I'd rather add stuff to my wishlist, because the "Follow" button just puts you on the stupid community page.

Putting it on my favorites treats it like a bookmark.

I use Wish List a lot of time to just basically tag a game I'm interesting in looking into later. Not that I want to buy, it. I just don't always remember the games, so I wish list them. I've done this many times with Free To Play games to check them out later.
