Looking for an easy to learn grand strategy game

Hey, I am on the look out for an easy to learn grand strategy game which still holds decent complexity, any suggestions? I dont like grand-strategy games where you just sit around and observe your country or such, and I also dont like debilitating dynasty-management sims like CK2 where the 27th nephew steals half your provinces on sucession without you being able to stop him or children you give claims for countrys to avoid this sucession thing and they just take them over in an instant, ive played a lot of TW games but long for something more complex, my eyes are on EU4, but it looks kinda slow and the demo as Portugal was boring too, and I had the feeling of not getting anything rolling, so I would be glad for any recommendations.

Honestly, if you wanna move out of Total War games and something more complex, my only recommendation is Paradox Development Studio games (EU4, CK2, V2, HOI2, etc...) Only warning is that they have a rather steep learning curve, but once you learn how to play them, they're pretty fun and if you ever bored of the base game, the modding community is great and you'll be playing them for hours.

Sad part about grand strategy games however, simply that there is a limited selection of games really. Paradox Development Studio games are some of the finest games in the Grand Strategy genre, but they take a certain person to truly enjoy them. So if you want thrilling battles? Stick with Total War. But you want complex grand strategy? EU4, CK2, V2, HOI2. You want both? Not yet, sadly.

Thats kinda sad, but I am probabely gonna take a look at EU4, it looks promising, ant till TW games become more compex or a new hybrid arises, im gonna keep looking around

I'm confused - you want an easy grand strategy game (relaxing?) with EU4 - level complexity.

If you want a relaxing strategy game, a builder (maybe not what you want) Anno 2070 is excellent and relaxes me everytime.

Easy to learn, and Anno 2070 is nice but not quite my taste, played it for a few months, but something like the dynasty system in CK2 is really not my taste, nation building is kinda what im into.

Knights of Honor is supposed to be sort of a hybrid between the Paradox style grand strategy games and the Total War games. I don't think it really beats either at what they do best, but you may find it easier to get into than something like EU4.

Knights of Honor seems interesting, but its kinda old ;) Not wantig to sue old video games, but its less the hybrid part that I am interested in but more the nation building and an easy to learn and manage complexity

you may want to look into Victoria 2, select some country a bit off of the great powers, like Japan.
I found it quite accessible.

Total War series is by far the most enjoyable strategy games ive played. However, if you dont like real time strategy games and controlling many units at oce it might not be for you. The game is split between campaign play and in battle play. Civilization resembles Total War's campaign gameplay but with no real time battle mode. However, Civilization is a more complicated game to learn with many aspects.

I did play alot of TW games, but I always found the campaign map lackluster for my own liking, I always wanted more to manage and do on the map part, so I kinda got bored of TW games, especially the more recent ones, turning too casual for my liking.
