Got scammed by a fake bot

Greetings.

Few minutes ago, i was trying to put a knife on sale, on a trading website.
But when i made the trade, i did around 30 checks on my listings, and there wasnt any knifes. So i decided to check with who i made the trade. So it was a profile called "nameless"...

Here i got 2 questions !
1) How is this working ? Like, when i clicked the "Sell" button from website, this scamming "bot" has been involved ??
2) If i got scammed like this, is there a chance to recover the knife from that account, since it is on tradelock 7 days ?

It would help me a lot, if i can recover it

That's why you should never use third party scam ... I mean trading sites. A valuable life lesson you have learned.

Yeah but, ive seen so many people trading outside, because if you want to sell something on steam, you cant actually withdraw the cash :d

You are not supposed to.
Those Scam Sites dont scam you immediately, or every time. They wait for an opportunity, and to make it look like it wasn't actually them.
It can take years until they strike.

And now scammers are going to sell your item for real money. Just because others use something doesn’t make it safe. Even popular content creators have been known to peddle such sites on their fans (for money) knowing they are scams and some even own parts of such sites.

Yeah, that was a lesson. I would never ever spend a penny on this game. Steam still sucks when we talk about security, fraud and scams. Even if we are talking about that ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ authentificator app

No, it doesnt. Steam is perfectly safe as long as you dont hand out your account information+Guard Code, which is what you did.

The only way Steam could protect you from yourself would be to not let you do ANYTHING. Sounds fun, doesn't it?
