Go into Settings > Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > View Devices and Printers
You should see your headset appear under Devices Tab. If not, your USB port you plugged into is not reading the device. See the 4th paragraph below.
If you see it, Right Click it and select "Troubleshoot". Let it run the wizard and see if there are any errors with the headset drivers/Controllers. If no errors pop up, right click again the device listed under devices and select "Sound Settings". You'll see a bunch of Ports that won't be pluged in, find your headset and make sure there is a green Check mark. If not right click and enable it. From here, if you highlight your device and select Properties button, and Properties again under Controller Information to see if your device is working properly. Though the Wizard would of scanned this already.
Next might be your Audio codex. Highly doubt it, but if you go under your Device Manager, and Check your Audio Inputs and outputs for little yellow exclamation mark. If you see one, select the item and search for the drivers to update.
Last thing I could think of, maybe you unplugged something from your MOBO on accident when installing your new Cooler. Cooler shouldn't effect your audio in anyway. Though, when in doubt, reinstall old Cooler to see, i know its a pain but worth a try.
Just use industry standard 3.5mm audio jack that plugs into your sound card, you know? the card that deals with audio?
Are your head phones showing up under Device Manager? Try them on a another computer make sure they are still working.
