This should only occur if you tried to use the market system and told steam to verify your payment method.
They'll take longer than two days, unfortunately. It's more like a few days to a few weeks most of the time. Hope you get it sorted soon, though.
I'd suggest not leaving your account information saved at all, anywhere. It might seem tedious when you purchase games but better safe than sorry my friend.
Debit cards can have authorisation holds, it's not only credit cards.
Have you checked with your card company to ask if it's a purchase or just a hold?
Sorry if Im misunderstanding something here, but you bought a game and Steam charged your debit card? Isnt that how things are supposed to work? Or was the money taken out of your bank account in /addition/ to the amount charged for the game you bought?
Edit: Ive had my debit card attached to my account for months at a time, and Ive never noticed any transactions that I didnt authorise.
Credit Card Verification (This applies to Debit Cards as well)
In short: 2 test / verification transactions are done (In some cases you can choose the 2 amounts). Your bank / vendor may hold on to the money for up-to 10 days, after which you will be refunded the cash (to your account).
I didnt realise new cards were verified - I guess Ive been using mine for so long now I completely forgot about it.
:) At times it's usually a petty amount - sometimes under a $1 (in relation to what people may spend on Steam) - however, as a user, that feeling of doubt and betrayal that "Steam stole my money..." - On average: Debit cards can take a little longer vs Credit cards. It's probably a more recent implementation on Steam, and serves the equivalent purpose of a "ping" in the internet world.
My money is in steams hand already, i already called my bank. Not all credit cards and debit cards work the way you think it works.
Also for the clarification. Used same card on "Google Play" . They draw and pay-back in the same day to test the card.
@ Jonno the games cost was 0.30. Also i can see that payment.
Standart procedure is to payback in the same day Like "Google Play" did!. Taking my money and holding it for months is not a procedure ,a scam.
I read other forums. They were claiming they were not paid back for over a month and half.
Steam doesn't collect the money. Your bank is the one holding it.

For the last time:
My card is debit card directly bound to my bank account. Steam already took that money.
To prove my point if my bank is holding money that is drawn how the hell "google play" pay back the money they did not recive in the same day?
Also ofcourse i called my bank TWICE, they said it is gone.
It's been ~6 days; it should be back in your account within 2 weeks.
