Steam charging tax on PayPal Purchases now?!
When did this become a thing?! I always used PayPal to buy games on Steam and never got charged more than what Steam said it would be. Like tryign to order Civ Beyond Earth now and using PayPal at check out. The game is only $49.99 if I purchase with CC, but it comes to about (roughly) $55 if done via PayPal.

Is this some new ♥♥♥♥ with Steam or what? I never got charged tax or anything before with PayPal purchases. Is it Steam doing this or PayPal? That would be pretty lame if PayPal started doing this crap, cause ugh... never had it like that before.

Kinda lame of whomever is charging the tax on top of it :-/

Was weird casue I attempted to pay for it the first time and got a different looking paypal screen that came up than normal. I logged out of steam and re-did the "test" payment attempt and this time got the proper screen that I normally do.

Did a lil google searching too and seems like other had had this issue as well with a different paypal screen than normal which charges tax (roughly 10%) onto the purchase. Dunno if it is a glitch in the payment system or what, but here's hoping valve takes care of it. I'll know better for next time when it goes all wonky though.

There's an extra chunk of change added on top of the game price EVERY TIME I use paypal through Steam.
So, I don't use paypal through Steam anymore.
♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ stupid; why would I pay more to use that payment method, when I could just enter my credentials on Steam?

No other place where I've used Paypal taxes me or asks for a fee; just Steam.
I guess Valve are down trodden these days...

The black/blue login for Paypal looks broken. It charges tax. The old white login doesn't.

I just went to buy a game using Paypal and got the new black/blue Paypal login screen. It wanted to charge tax. I ended up buying with a CC, which didn't charge tax.

Then I tried to buy another game and got the old white Paypal login screen! That one was fine and didn't charge tax.

Buggy buggy. I submitted a support ticket, so they will know about it.
