Unity Games
Does anyone else like games made by Unity? Everytime I load up a new game to me and I see Unity pop up I always groan and think oh no not unity. I wonder if this is because I've heard bad things over the years about games made with Unity?! What do other gamers think of Unity made games?

It's not made BY Unity. That would be like saying a painting is made BY the easel, or the canvas.

I don't care one bit about the engine used.

If you mean games made WITH the Unity engine... I've had no bad experiences with them. Battletech and Anno: Mutationem are outstanding games made with that engine. The engine's poor reputation is undeserved because the negative feedback is mostly tied to bad games being made with it as well as the most recent attempt to pretty much extort players via their old and new games made with the Unity engine. The engine itself seems alright.

I did mean that yes. I played a few games here and there they seemed ok but have definitely heard bad things about unity games

The engine has nothing to do with them being good or bad. It all depends on how serious and how committed the developers are.

Why? To me all that matters is whether a game is fun. For that it doesn't matter if it's made with Unreal, Unity, Godot, RPGMaker, etc.

I don't care. Yes, I am in software development, but not the games that I play -- so I'm just a customer here, and don't need to be concerned with technology.

In retrospect it might have been a stupid idea that the engine makers demanded users of the free version (as opposed to the licensed one) put a "made with Unity" screen as part of the intro. That way they linked "Unity" with "cheap amateur game".

I see that splash screen every time"made with unity " I still play the game and give it a chance but heard negatively about Unity

I play only indie games and most of them were made in Unity. I have never had problems that were due to the engine, though I think some of the developers have. All I think when I see 'Made By Unity' is to wonder whether the indie devs will still carry out their pledges to move to a different engine for their next games, even though Unity retreated on the 'pay per download' and fired the exec who came up with it. That was definitely the last straw when it came to dealing with the Unity company for at least some of them.

I've never understood all those intro logos. How many players are going to "oh, this was done with middleware product X -- let me google it so I can buy it myself"?

Same with movie credits -- who's going to hire these people after watching the movie? Granted. nowadays I do just minimize the player and let the credits run, in case there's a hidden scene, but...
