Moderators
In mother’s basement, dimly lit,
He dons his throne—a squeaky sit.
With Cheeto dust upon his keys,
He rules the boards with ban and sneeze.

A thread appears—he narrows eyes,
Detects “off-topic”—flagged as lies!
His finger twitches, pupils flare:
“Dissent? Here? Not while I stare.”

The Ban Button gleams, his holy sword—
He slays with clicks, feels just, adored.
Each ban a victory, each mute a crown,
His kingdom vast… three forums down.

He types in bold, in crimson text:
“Rule 4.1, you’ve been hexed!”
No court, no jury, no appeal—
For he is law. And you? Just feel.

Outside the screen? He’s just a kid,
With homework late and ego big.
But here online? He’s judge, he’s god—
His glory rests on “Ban this fraud.”

A tyrant born of fragile pride,
A pixel-king with rage inside.
Yet pause and laugh—his world is small,
For power sought through forums? That’s all.

Let him reign in his tiny land,
With trembling fist and ban in hand.
While real life waits beyond the glow—
A world he’ll never truly know.

When do we get to purge steam moderators?

I got news for you bud, Steam "moderators" are contracted support center employees in India who click "approve" or "deny" buttons for recommended rulings that are spat out by an AI-driven moderation recommendation system.

Unless you're talking about community hub mods, who are basically just just the game devs of those community hubs' games.

BTW there was no need to make two threads about it:

I don't know why people insist on exaggerating what things are or how they work, just to disparage the system.

There are things to critique and its worth critiquing them, but be honest about it at least.

That was kind of the point.

OP's AI-generated poem makes it sound like Steam mods are basement-dwelling incels a la Reddit mods, but in reality it's just Panesh sitting in a support contractor firm's cubicle in Bangalore and earning $1.67 per hour for rubber-stamping support requests using checklists for like 11 different companies at the same time.

How will you be without a moderator?

(Also think about that for a second...if they're just using the AI recommends and not reading the posts...why need an offshore team to mash ban buttons? get an AI to do it)

Deferring to AI qualitative analysis seems to be big in your book, per your previous post about justifying disconnected offshore humans mashing buttons at the behest of some unnamed agentic. Yet you stab yourself with the same sword by decrying a poem as generated?

I'd say 3 things:

1) If it's true, who cares who comes up with it? Obviously you do. You're a pretentious, do little know nothing who gets his self worth from from the things he steals from others

2) It's a good peom. Why the immediate leap to belittle it? Maybe you're jealous? See 1.

3) Steam moderators and whatever offshored or AI-driven or basement dweller staffed dumpster fire it is, it isn't working. People with good things to say are being silenced while idiots are being allowed to gibber, kind of like Shotgun.

So let idiots like Shotgun gibber. What, then, is the stance for silencing other idiots?

And what would those silenced good things be?

PS: In just three posts I can already make an educated guess at why you may have been found yourself moderated in the past. And it has little to do with the housing habits of moderators.

It is a symptom of low IQ when people are unable to differentiate between a person impartially describing how something functions, and that person advocating for or justifying that thing's existence or utility.

They really need to start punishing primary accounts for the behavior of the alts.

"We will never go away" Well...you will...via ban. And the forum will keep going like nothing happened.

Okay, that still doesn't tell anyone here what the issue is that you're having. All your behaviour here tells me is that this account you're on will be banned soon, and for good reason.

So what's the actual issue?
Issue 1) steam silences dissenters for no other reason than they want to maintain authority. They don't listen. They don't want to improve. You kind of led on with this very ideal in your post, didn't you...
I can critique Steam all I want, difference being I don't need to sling insults at people who don't agree with my criticism.

It's not the dissent they're silencing, it's the abuse towards others.

So you want, what? 3rd party oversight of how Valve runs their own platform?
You don't? Do you work for steam?
Do you ever stop yourself?

Lol. Yea, let's go with that. I have currently ... (0) alt accounts on steam spreading the same message. Really scared by the ban threat.

The only oversight Valve has is the law and whether they adhere to it. They've had to amend their ToS a few times over the years because of this oversight.

Outside of that, this is their company, their platform and they can do with it what they will, for better or worse.

You would expect to do no less if you were them.
