Proton 10.0 beta: disk write error
It's fully downloaded, but gives me a disk write error. I'm on Linux, and some games are on an NTFS volume. Not sure what the problem is.

In the same sense that "computer error" won't do, despite it being true.
Proton prefixes include files with names like "c:", which is valid under linux filesystems but illegal in windows. NTFS drivers may behave oddly using those or refuse to create those, so it makes sense that failing to create those files would appear as an error writing to disk.

You're not supposed to put games on NTFS partitions, it doesn't work properly, use native filesystems. There are several threads on it in the Linux forums, check there.

yeah, but the error shouldn't be disk write error.

Do yourself a favor and don't use NTFS on Linux. I mean yeah, for pure storage (your photos, documents & such stuff), it's fine. But don't use NTFS omfor anything remotely complex (and starting processes is a complex task).
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.
