Kinda sounds like someone scammed you.
But if legit, I'd review the very easy to find steam CD keys FAQ: https://help.steampowered.com/en/faqs/view/0E71-0971-324A-1161
So someone sells you a product and says at the same time i dont know if it works. If it doesnt work dont come back to me for help go to the other shop and ask them for help and all you do is throwing money at them and then complain to the other shop?
Whats the name of this trustworthy "retailer"?
Just charge back their asses and stop using that fraud of a site you used
upper left nav bar
click on help
select steam support, select the best option that fits your problem, then select "I still have a question______"
Fill out the support ticket.
have patience waiting for a reply. Remember they get several hundred tickets per hour for various stuff.
If they were a legitimate keyseller they would not tell you to contact Steam Support if it is invalid as the key would be legitimate and activate.
Don't bother. Steam Support's answer will be to contact the site that sold you the key. If the seller is telling you they can't fix it, then the seller is not legit.
Anyway, thanks for the replies, guys. Good get some other opinions.
In this case its a lie from the game seller and as stated if they won't refund you issue a charge back.
Its easy to get help from Steam for issues they actually deal with. That is not a steam issue and its solely on the seller.
