Freedom of speech still dead on Steam
Getting banned for criticizing something in a game, let alone something attacking consumers, is crazy.
What has happened to Valve

Freedom of Speech still does not exist on private property.
Feel free to use the search bar to your right to find more Information to that.

Steam isn't a government
Freedom of speech has never been a thing on any private platform. Freedom of speech only protects you from the government.

Private platforms have the right to choose what is and is not allowed to be said on their platform.

Just like you have the right to kick someone out of your house if you don’t like what they are saying.

While technically correct, that is not how our culture operates. We expect those same basic freedoms from business we support. That is the reason we spend money with them. When they go back on that or change, we call them out. Simple. They don't HAVE to, but they SHOULD.

Nothing has changed though. The rules have been the same for as long as I've been on Steam in this regard. And that's since Steam has existed.

You have the wrong expectations, then.

Now that is just a lie. Everyone with a brain can see there has been a huge increase of DEI hired community mods that abuse their power. I was banned 24 hours from a game forum for expressing how annoying people with Geforce Now spam every forums of new games begging for it to be added to their platform. This simple disagreement would never gotten me banned 15 years ago here. A woke mod simpy god their feelings hurt.

So supporting GeForce Now is woke somehow? What does that have to do with DEI? Feels like another wrong expectation.

expectations? That's quite literally how any modern civil society operates, the way they and many other companies/govt are acting now is a small outlier in our history.

as i have said to others

go and create a forum and let the pissed off people tell you how you have to mod it

see how long that lasts

if a person is angry at a business,

they have many options to express that anger

write letters and emails

call and complain

go in person to where they are and tell them what they think

but if i start mouthing off at their building i will be told to leave

if i were to start mouthing off on the phone, they would hang up

if were to start mouthing off in their open forum, i would be told to leave

there are thousands of sites where we can post that are not run by the devs/pubs

we can go to them and post what we want (within their rules)

we cans start our own site and run it how we please

but anywhere you go

there will be some kind of censorship

every single place there are some kind of rules you will follow or be told to leave

Some people do have unreasonable expectations. And how do you think our culture operates? "Rights for me, not for thee"? Because that's what you're saying. And you're saying businesses don't have to operate under that bogus ideal, but they should? Fat chance.

Your rights end where the rights of others begin. Businesses have rights, and so do business owners. Tough cookies for anyone who doesn't like that.

No not really.
it just seems that more people get Administered because the Idiocy has increased in the last years.
And when more idiots are around more stuff needs to be done by the mods........t

I think you are confused no one is angry, they are changing how they acted for many years randomly, that is the issue. I'm not mad when i say its annoying having Geforce now users beg for games to be added. Then I get banned because some broke woke mod gets offended and thinks im poor shaming. They are the angry ones, not us.
It's crazy to see so many people complain about freedom of speech yet being unaware of what it actually entitles them to
