Use the correct image format for the job. gif is not a format intended for use with UltraHD graphics. When it was invented, screen resolutions with four digit numbers in them were unheard of.

2k is a misnomer but it became the marketing category for 1440p. It bridges the gap between 4k and HD (aka 1080p). They are not referring to 2k Games, the developer.

Steam even scales it down on viewing because it is so large.
