MateEngineX VS Desktop MATE
Desktop Mate:
is a program you can download for free but the DLC is expensive. $15 for a Miku mascot that doesn't do anything but stand around on your desktop and sit on windows. It was cool at first and was easy to mod, then the dev went in and fixed it to where you can't mod it. Now the community is outraged out him and he doubled down and said, "But if I don't they will get mad at me!" No mate, no one cares about this, if you asked like $5 for Miku people would have been ok.

Behind the scenes, people figured out how to mod the program by rolling back the program with CMD and then re-adding in stuff. Reason for the modding is so that we could add in VRM files of our own. The dev didn't like this because he's not making any money off it. As a community we told him we would support him if he allowed it. Again the double down came into play. Now everyone hates this guy.

Mate Engine X:
This came out not to long afterwards. After the Dev showed his true colors and said, "I'm going to charge an arm and a leg for this program" another dev dug into the files and said, "Oh nothing is copy written! Gimme!" and now we have the entire program for free and he made it open source. 1 noted feature he removed till he finds a fix was the that the program was triggering LOL and other online game's' anti-cheat system.

This dev encourages people to add in mods, make it look how they want and so on. This dev also said, "BTW I'm releasing it to Steam for $3.99 and allowing people to do as they please. Also it's on my Github if you want it for free and it will remain free" not verbatim but you can find him on google by googling "MateEngineX" and it's first link. Get the first file. It's simple and easy to use.

He's added in more dance animations that cycle at random which is neat, and fixed a few bugs. When you get the character close to the start bar they lay on a macaroon.

Me:
I've been keeping an eye on this for a while and reporting on what I think is worth the time. I don't personally like the bloom or the dance effects. I think any animations and sounds should have a separate toggle menu.

What do you guys think so far?

LMAO
Yes. To some degree it does. Yes, there is an argument there that if he were to go to court they can say something like, "I made it first, here's proof." but tbh there will always be some dude that will have the files somewhere or it will force the DM devs to fix their shiz.
Also you can get a VRM of Bonzi Buddy.
