Can't recover my old Steam account – Support won't help!

Hey everyone,

I'm having trouble recovering my very first Steam account and was hoping someone here might have some advice.

The account is at least 15–20 years old, and I no longer have access to the email I used back then. However, I still remember my old Steam username and I even have the original CD with the activation key for Counter-Strike, which I used when creating the account.

Back in the day, you could recover an account using a CD key, but it seems Steam no longer accepts that as a verification method. Instead, they keep asking for an old email or payment info—neither of which I have anymore. I've tried contacting Steam Support, but all I get are generic responses that don’t help at all.

Has anyone dealt with something similar or knows a way to recover the account? Would be a shame to lose it forever.

You must be logged out of all accounts to start the account recovery process.

You don't need access to the email, phone or password currently tied to the hijacked/hacked account for this to work. Just pick the "I do not have access..." or a similar option when asked.
