Removing Vaporware games from Storefront
Steam really needs to remove vaporwave games that the devs clearly abandoned from the storefront. I just purged a bunch from my wishlist because it's been 2+ years since an update from the dev. Either make it mandatory that devs give updates on a regular basis or your game gets removed.

Mainly on games that have been in "Coming Soon" and haven't been released in early access yet.

but they really should. i know the meme is valve does nothing and they win, it's just becomes a graveyard for dead projects.

It's a digital store front and only games that are for sale are shown/advertised on the store page. You have to actually search through the "coming soon" category to find these abandoned games.
I think Valve did add some sort of, "if your game hasn't been updated in one year or had any activity, then it gets put in limbo where it won't be shown as much over other games," but I'm too lazy too look up the link and real text it said about it. Sorry! :P

no they come up during my discovery queue, add them to my wish list and then 2 years later they're still "coming soon"

it's all good, I don't actively search dead or abandoned games, they just show up during my discovery queue and like i said above, they are still in the same status years later.

You can customise your discovery queue to not show unreleased products.

I don't really see a need for abandoned and unreleased games to be removed, because they're not hogging up any space and it's pretty easy to research whether development is still happening and a release is still actively planned.

Yeah. Fools think repeating the same thing over and over and over and over again isn't insane (which it is) and there's countless fools.

Sometimes games don't ever release. Not everyone makes it to the finish line.

Sometimes it takes years for it to release. I remember having Scorn on my wishlist for the longest time. Until out of the blue it finally released.

That's not an actual update, though. That's just communication. Valve specifically marks EA games on the store front that haven't received a game-based update after what I believe is 12 months. I don't believe it unreasonable for them to remove the "buy" button from the store page of EA games that have not received an update in at least 2 years.
I'm mainly talking about games that have been in "Coming Soon" for 2+ years. But hey, any communication or news is needed.
Valve really doesn't care whether or not you make use of the storepage once you pay the $100 fee. Many devs make a point of nailing that down fairly early in the development project because it's very cheap to do, something they will have to do, something that will allow them to start community building and just as importantly...locks down the name/copyright of the game.

Yes, because alienating the devs who provide the product you sell is the smartest business decision.
If devs have unreleased game but go silent on any info can we say game was abandoned?

I dont believe that an indie dev cant spend 10 minutes in a year to post "Game closed" or say somehting

I made a similar discussion, but it seems people are happy with the current state of affairs. You can check it out.
