Steam Input or JoyShockMapper?
I've been using Steam Input for a while now, having made various controller layouts for my DualShock 4 and Steam Deck. But there is also JoyShockMapper. Is it any better? Should I use that instead of Steam Input?

Steam Input got the obvious advantage of being already & fully integrated. That other thing, you'd have to start separately and can't change mappings comfortably.

The KISS principle is tremendously useful both in developing software and using software.

JoyShockMapper hasn't been updated for four years whereas Steam Input is still updated all the time. With many games released in the past few years, Dualshock 4 works better without any kind of input mapper. Plug in with USB cable, disable Steam Input, and it often behaves exactly as it does on PlayStation (correct button glyphs, touchpad responding to gestures in games which support them, etc.).
