So if the statistics are showing that not a lot of people are playing a game, maybe that just means that not a lot of people are playing that game. And there are numbers so you can know exactly how many not a lot of people are playing.
I remember it being there way earlier. Because CS 1.6 and CSGO where fighting for the first spot.
Then Valve changed how it counted by counting per Steam user rather than server data and this made CS 1.6 lose a lot of players because servers where faking a lot of players.
I'm just going by my vague memory of one of Chet Faliszek's videos so I could be completely wrong about its origin.
As example, one troll got 1 month ban

So, it's OK to use the privacy features to hide features on a public profile but you cannot use those same features to make your profile private or friends only...
