PSA: Fell for a Steam Account Sharing Scam - Help Me Report This!
Hey Steam Community!

Need some help reporting a scam I fell for recently. I know I messed up, but want to warn others about this:

So here's what happened:
I found this website called Crystal Zone selling Steam games for super cheap (599 INR/7 USD each). I bought Red Dead Redemption 2 and Spider-Man Miles Morales, thinking I got a great deal.

Instead of getting game keys, they sent me:
- Login details for someone else's Steam account
- The account was locked in Family View mode
- They gave these weird instructions:
• Turn off cloud saves and remote play
• Only play offline
• Download some sketchy launcher from GitHub
• Follow some YouTube tutorial

I know now this is totally against Steam's rules and probably dangerous with that third-party launcher stuff. I've got screenshots of everything - the website ,their messages, and the locked Steam account they gave me.

Yeah, I'll probably lose access to these games, but I'd rather report this and stop others from getting scammed. What's the best way to report this to Steam Support? Has anyone else run into something similar?

Thanks for any help!

Steam will not help you as it is an off site website not affiliated with steam.

Dont buy from scam web sites.
why would you trust that lmao
I have no idea how people fall for these kinds of things, they are always extremely obvious. Have so few people not learned to NOT click on suspicious links?
Issue a chargeback from this site as they will do everything to avoid giving your money back.
never trust any website that doesn't know how to spell
Based in India, .shop domain....

yeah its a pretty common thing found on alot of sketchy sites. No you shouldnt trust it and id keep an eye on whatever payment method you used, hopefully you used something more secure than just a debit/credit card
Nah, don't worry, we something called UPI in india for cashless transaction which is a lot safer than debit/credit card.

i have deleted the link, i understand that steam will not take any action, but can i still report the account of which i received the details?
Now as for why i trusted this website, it's not so common in India to buy games, especially in middle class, we just download pirated one if our system can support that game. So i am new to buying games, i already own a PS4 where i have played these titles, i tried to buy them so that i can expand my steam collection and they have a whole website running, which has been reviewed by many Indian streamers also, and has multiple ads on social media, claiming that they will provide the game key, that got me fooled and decided to try it, but I have now learned my lesson and wanted to report this so that website will be taken down.
Scammer capital of the world.
This takes “don’t let a scammer take you to a second location” to extremes. This is red flag after red flag after red flag.
Sadly this kind of practice is common in 3rd world country, In my country it's only around 3 buck for latest games even less for older games. It's annoying to set up though especially for steam deck

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes
No one can help you report anything as their reports will be false reports cause they didn't get scammed.
