Hogwarts Legacy mods restriction
It is very annoying waiting so long for an update only to find I will not be able to use my third party mods, players should be be allowed to use whatever mods they like that's why they buy the game if we and forced to use their mods then I will not be using them, I think players who are like minded should boycott their mods until they enable third party mods again if they don't I won't be buying their next sequel and I will predict sales will plummet to a new low because of what they are doing now.

So post about it in the Hogwarts Legacy forum then
That's the downside to modding. When a game updates, mods break. Even in games that support modding, this holds true.

You have to wait for the mod creators to update their mods, or just don't use mods in games.
Yeah, you must be new to the modding community. Updates to a game tend to break mods. Also, a developer is not responsible for making sure their updates work with every 3rd party mod out there, that would be ridiculous. It's the responsibility of the creator of the mods to update their mods to continue to work with the game that has updated. You think you're upset at Hogwarts Legacy for updating? Look at Skyrim that did an update some 12+ years after release that broke a bunch of mods. People were real grumpy lol. No one is going to boycott a game over how mods have worked, and should work, since mods were a thing.

You basically want older beta branch version enabled for the game. Ask the game devs for access to them so your mods don't break and you don't need to update to be on the latest version.

:nkCool:
I don't think you are representative of the majority of the HL community so I do not see it affecting the sales of any sequel.

Game updates break mods, it's up to the mod makers to keep the mods up to date to work with the newest update.

Mods are third-party and have nothing to do with updates, which has absolutely possibility to break. Do the workaround:

Choose the second option from Properties in your library. Go to steamapps folder, find appmanifest_[appid] and set it to read-only. Note that you have to do that again each the Steam client updates, but the second option will keep Steam at bay.

Afaik official modding support actually helps games in the long run usually as well, provided they don't pull a Bethesda and shoot for a modding marketplace/paid mods.

A developer on the Hogwarts Legacy subreddit described the breakage as not intentional. Third party mods need to be recompiled for the updated engine, that is all.

Apparently an update to raytracing is what broke existing mods.
