How can we opt out of steam’s hardware data collection survey ?

Some say to click no but that may be participating still . I heard about an option to uncheck a box in settings but I don’t see it . How exactly can I opt out and how can I make sure it will actually opt me out of the data collection ?

You can not opt out of the prompt asking you to participate.

Clicking "No Thanks" just doesn't collect the info. Everyone is still in the pool every month for the participation prompt.

You probably won't see one every month but no, it is not a one time thing. You are always in the pool of participants for the survey.

I don't even think I see the prompt yearly, and that's running Steam on two different systems.

Pretty much this. I can't even recall the last time I got a hardware collection survey from Steam. Would have been a long while ago

Not everyone gets it every month but it is sent out to random users every month and has since forever.

It is not sent out to everyone monthly.

In my experience, I've had times where I hadn't seen it for years and then I've had it show up a few months in a row. It's all RNG.

If you don't want to provide your deets, you just click "No Thanks" and move on with the rest of your day.

Valve have run the survey monthly for years. Users however will likely only be asked to participate once or twice a year. Click okay or click no, either way, you won't be doing it monthly.

Keep in mind that if you click no, and are using fringe hardware, software, OS, etc., you risk moving Valve one-step closer to dropping support for it.

Why can't I just click one box in settings and just get rid of this prompt forever? I've had it like 40 times already, no I don't want to be part of cringe statistics, stop asking lol
