Why Do You Still Get Notifications From Blocked Users?
I regularly block people on the steam discussions that are literally just here to troll, replying over and over again with things like "stop crying so much little baby lmao" and "skill issue" and "git gud or find some baby game like roblox to play instead lol".

But it does nothing. I still get notifications if they reply to me, or post something in my thread. There is nothing you can do to escape them. They'll just keep sending reply after reply after reply insulting and trolling you and the block function, which is SUPPOSED to, you know... BLOCK someone? Does nothing.
Sometimes the notification will get stuck because they're blocked, and you'll have to UNBLOCK them, look at the message they sent, and then re-block them.

Why?

You can unsubscribe from the post. The block function will not stop someone from using public forums. It only stops them from contacting your directly. aka adding you as a friend, messaging you using chat, and your profile comments. However threads on the forums are considered public.

I know it doesn't stop them from posting, I'm fine with them posting. I just don't want notifications for it, because I've blocked them. I don't know of any other forum anywhere where you continue to get notifications from people you have blocked.

You are subscribe to a thread on a public discussion forum and why you get notifications. These are not personal blogs or groups you control.

I bet the OP has blocked you after this ‘helpful’ message. Yeah things are currently the way the are, and the topic is the suggestion to change them. No one was asking to control public forums, or other users’ notifications, notifications are personal, not public.

Their choice after all that is why freewill exists.

As for helpful response it is the truth, after all if you are in public town hall meeting you cannot stop your neighbour voicing an opinion nor expecting them to be removed from your view when doing so.

The system works as all forums do. You subscribe to a thread you receive a notification.

There is a clear flaw. The system would have to check where you made a post, then check your block list each and every time, but not just you but every single person that posts.

As for change these are public discussion forums. Affirmation is not a pre-requisite to post.

Yeah, I'm of mind comments from blocked users shouldn't trigger alerts, or show up in quoted content. Otherwise I'm pretty content with the block feature,

It would be nice if we didn't get notifications from blocked users. It's not like we will read their posts either way...

Not true since their are posters who have me blocked and bypass the block they imposed by clicking show, quote and reply or simply include my post in a quote to another and actually are referring to me, or address the point i made without quoting.

I understand and can agree. I am also sometimes clicking that forbidden button. I know it's all about self control, but when notification sends you straight to the content you are avoiding, it makes it a little more annoying.
