PC in general is becoming more expensive than rent money.
So, I have a very outdated graphics card, the 1050 TI, and now they're discontinuing the GTX cards. I feel like gaming in general is just getting worse and even more expensive. The new Indiana Jones game, is just a really expensive movie with one button pressing. Heck, you can't even run it on GTX cards now. DLSS is stupid and so is Ray Tracing, well I don't understand it and I don't have a 8K TV so that's dumb and pointless. I personally feel like gaming industry is slowly dying. I've been so bored lately of video games, i don't even know what good games exist anymore. I just am disappointed on PC. Kinda of thinking of going back to console.

Most of modern AAA games sucks anyways. Not worth upgrading for them. Indy games is the future for gaming, they retained creativity, artistic style and don't obsses with politics as much

That's another thing. I never even upgraded to these new consoles. This generation stinks as far as games. Look at all the layoffs and sub par sales. It's just not the time for upgrading much of anything.

It is known, on every venue but here, PC is an expensive way of gaming.
Specially for your specific kind of gaming (older games) that couldn't be further from the truth.

Well high end Playstations and XBOX systems aren't cheap and you're paying an annual fee for online. Plus the newer version of the console gets released and you can't transfer your previous console to the new console.

Everything i purchased off Steam starting back in 2008 is available and most are playable, ditto for GOG.

I lost digital games moving from the 3DS to Switch and my digital Wii games died with the console.

Well, that's true for those Pre 2005 games. But again, for those games i could have bought a 300 dollar micro PC lol. And still may btw. That's not the issue.

But for games like Arma and others, you're not going to play those games on that. For those i play on Ge Force Now thru my Xbox One.

I play Tekken 8, Street Fighter 6, and other games with my 4 year old PC, going on 5 years.

I can't play this game and games like it, but that's not a biggee.

A high end PC is a waste of money If it's just for gaming, When that expensive Graphics Card first comes out, maybe 1% of games are optimised for it. It's better to buy a cheaper card that has a better track record.

console games get ported to PC, pc games get ported to console. Rarely are they as good as the system they were designed for.

The only advantage to a PC is you can upgrade it, a console is dead when they stop making games for it.

I disagree, buying a high end PC just for gaming has been worth every penny too me. I've had no problems playing any games in the past four years, nor have I suffered any optimisation issues.

then your either spending someone else's money, don't know the value of a dollar, or never had to actually WORK for a living.

Arma 3 runs on a I5 and a GTX660. The processor and GPU don't cost more than €50
throw another €20 for 80Gb Ram. let's say 30€ for a 250Gb Hdd, 50-60€ for the Mobo and €30 for a run-of-the-mill PSU.

You can build a PC that runs Arma 3 on recommended specs below your $300 budget.

As I said earlier, fire your computer guy.

I spent my own money building my PC's from cherry picked parts. You're right, I don't know the dollar as I'm English and we use the Pound. I worked 7 days a week, up to 17 hours a day for years, I'm now retired at 54 enjoying my hobby gaming, which I have done since I was 6 years old. :spazwinky:

I have a friend on Steam who does work on his PC for a living. He's freelance and has busy times and not so busy times. I can tell from his Steam activity if he's busy or not.

You can't use Edge on 360. It was always Xbox One.

My "computer guy" was you all. And you wanted to take me to the cleaners lol.

That aside though, i had a post that was rudely taken down by your bretheren, and i mentioned there even if i had a 10k PC, games like Arma, or ATS or majorly modded games, id continue to play on Ge Force Now.

These Mods seems to break everyones games, but mine. Likely because with cloud gaming, your mods are downloaded every time you start the game. And so there is no folders or matters that will screw up your games or computer.

And that's another reason if you're into mods and the Workshop, GFN is the way to go, even if you have a decent PC imo.

your quoting the wrong person, I said if gaming was the primary use. then high end would be a waste. but if your using for work that needs that kind of hardware. i read many department and chain stores were still using win 98 until just last year. unless you doing high video editing or tracing the genome.

Arma 3 runs on a I5 and a GTX660.
Division 2 also runs really well with that specific combination. Know that from experience with a previous system.

Or maybe they just want the hardware so they're spending their own money to not be outdated for a long period of time thus able to play games without any upgrades needed for a while?

That really depends on the games. Some can eat an incredibly large amount of CPU, RAM and VRAM. Especially if you also Host.

I didn't think $1200 for 5 years was bad.

I still don't have to upgrade everything.

Mods work the same way natively in PC.
