Lol, how in the world would a geezer like me, shill for them? PC gaming is known, to be very expensive. Away from here, that is the concensus.
People can't afford rents in this day and age, they're gonna buy these PCs to play games?
You're generalising. Plenty of people can afford their rents. You really should expand your universe more and not stop at your clickbait sources.
PC gaming isn't expensive. High-end PC gaming is. But not PC gaming on average.
PC's don't have to be expensive, remember those cheap ones I searched for you for a few hundred quid which would have kept you going for a while with the games you play and without the need of having to stream your games through GFN etc.
Yes, it is nice to have a decent PC which plays everything and all the eye candy turned up to eleven but it isn't required.
You did. You were all very helpful. But they pooh poohed your suggestion, telling me i'd have to be out of my mind.
And so again, it's very expensive. And if you need one for work, it's one thing. But soley to play games i can't see how it makes sense, given the advances we're beginning to see.
If you run for cheapest hardware, you be disappointed the quickest when games become more demanding over time, that how it works for years.
The major issue since RTX that hit across the board which doesn't matter if low, or high, it everything, is bad, and/or lazy development on software side for games such as optimizations.
There can be reasons why it like that, but also bad reasons why it's like that. That why people not please with devs relying on frame generation, and upscalers.
You listened to the wrong people, it would have got you up to date in the OS department and been able to have kept you playing your games. You would have been saving money instead of wasting it on subscriptions to stream your games. But I can only lead a horse to water I can't make it do a song and dance.
Well, this horse may be led to a new Steam Gaming Console
If that happens, and seems a lot of smoke at this point meaning, fire, where would i be? And so sometimes its worth it to be patient, and see what happens.
Don't know how old you are, For myself I am old enough to remember 8 bit games, on 64 bit consoles that had more story line and re-play then most of the AAA games (and the hardware required to run them) coming out now. High end gaming, for those who can afford it, is a luxury.
Even the game's you buy on Steam/Valve are only "rented" and not owned.
I agree with you completely. PC's and modern gaming is WAY to expensive, If you care about rent or eating everyday.
Well that would only mean i have to stick with what i have, or again come hat in hand to you and others to shop me the BEST, cheap, micro PC on the market. Meaning, no more than the cost of a new console.
Why you build high, to let it last.
There's a reason why people are disappointed in consoles. They promise performance, and don't deliver. Example, PS5 Pro, 8K Gaming! Rawr! Reality? Upscaled 1900p or worse, to 4K. And still unable to hit 60 FPS.
When ya strip away the marketing from console gaming, ya see it's not what you expect it should be. And that's expected, since no way can you make a console as powerful as a PC with similar performance.
However, pound for pound, being a gamer nowadays is a lot less expensive than it was 30 years ago. Back when I got my first job, I would have to put in nearly a full week of work to afford a game. Today, my daughter working her first job can buy a game before her lunch break.
As for PCs, you're still getting more bang for the buck than you are with consoles. You can get a decent rig for about a grand that will handle pretty much any game (might just have to adjust graphics settings). I bought my most recent one for around the price back in 2019, and it's still going. No issues with any game thus far. And I plan to get at least another three to four years out of it before I look to upgrade.
But you do you bro. PC gaming is alive and well, and nothing will change about that, nor its Master Race status for a long time to come.
"Only 2800 dollars". We do realize, in this household, i have had to spend double that just on a surgery i had, with medicare and other insurance.
Americans are paying literally THOUSANDS of dollars on medical costs, rents, utilities and other necessites.
This the result...
https://www.npr.org/2024/12/27/nx-s1-5241115/us-homeless-hud-housing-costs-migrants
We do not have free healthcare. We do not have free housing, or retire at 50.
We cannot afford thousands of dollars in computers to play games at 4k and 1000 frames a second sir. It makes no sense under the circumstances.
But thank you for the suggestion.
I know the system sucks, but that's life. You budget based on your life, thankfully I make enough money to take care of myself and my many family members.
Why PC gaming is a Hobby. You budget into what you can afford. If you can't afford it, then don't do it. If unable to save up a little at a time? Don't do it. Stick to console gaming and the lesser experience if can't afford it. But even Console gaming is expensive by your terms.
